Have you tried freezing it with the peanut butter in it? That’s what my mom does, no mess!

@oracle:  I think you’re missing a dog that likes peanut butter. When I had my dog, he went nuts (no pun intended) every time he saw the toy because he knew peanut butter was coming any second. Have you tried another treat she loves? Does she like peanut butter without the toy?

Have you tried getting the solid kong treats to put in there? Our lab mix LOVES getting the treats out of there. You can practically see the wheels spinning in his head – he ends up basically tossing it up in the air and bouncing it on the ground to get the treats out. Even for hours after the treats are gone, we hear him bouncing it around the house because he thinks he could get ONE MORE out of there.

There are a lot of other options to put inside kongs.  My dog goes crazy over the cookie-like things they make.

Ive had dogs who loved kongs all my life but our dog does not give a rants a** about them she much rather have a squeeky rubber toy that when you throw bounces all over. I think you might be putting too much peanut butter in as well, a few knives full on the side walls is all you need.

@oracle:   She just scoops maybe a tbsp on a butter knife, wipes it off the knife inside the kong and sticks it in the freezer!

I was just going to suggest carrots- My dog went crazy over those!  But seeing as how your dog doesn’t like them…

When we ran out of carrots, I would put peanut butter in the Kong and a little dog biscuit that she had to work to get out.  If she likes dogs treats, you can try that!  Though, I do recommend using the peanut butter with it (only fill half way).  My dog learned that by rolling the Kong with her paw, she could get the treat out in 10 seconds.  With the peanut butter, she had to really work for it.

ETA-  I just read the comments about using less peanut butter- I agree!  You only need a couple scoops on a knife to make any kind of treats you place inside a challenge to get out.

@oracle:   Haha yeah, just a little bit of peanut butter frozen in it keeps her dog busy all night. 🙂

I used to put the peanut butter treats in there for my pups. No clean up with them. Maybe try those if the frozen does not work.
