I’ve been working on Kusudama Paper Flower Bouquets (see below) but I am having issues deciding on what to put in the center of my flowers. Does anyone have any suggestions or If you have made these flowers I would love to see what you did to yours. Thanks!

Lovely!! Maybe you could put some kind of jewel in the middle, or maybe a miniature version of those tissue paper poms?

I’m doing the exact same thing, same colors and everything just different shade. I found tiny pom poms to shove in the middle of the same color of my flowers. Some i will leave and some i will cover with a gem as the pom pom will give me a base to glue to. Did u use a styrofoam ball? How did you finish the part you hold?

@troublesmom: Aw that’s funny that we choose the same colors and bouquets! What good taste you have! 🙂
Thanks for the pom pom idea I will have to try that. Do you happen to have a picture of your flowers?
I tired using a styrofoam ball to arrange the flowers but I could never get it to look right because of their odd angles, but that could just be me. I attached all of them to green pipe cleaners instead. I have had such a hard time getting them to hold together without looking weird but I think the key is to take each flower and group only a couple together at a time, then tie them off and repeat until you have a bouquet of reasonable size. I still haven’t wrapped the stems yet but I went out and bought some fun yellow ribbon with polka dots on it and I plan to wrap that around them nicely somehow. Here’s a picture of my ribbon and you can see the stems better as well, this was an earlier stage in the bouquet though so it has changed quite a bit since.

your flowers look so much prettier than mine ): idk what i’m doing wrong. what size paper are you using? & for the center i’ve been putting buttons cause that’s part of my theme but i agree with the jewel thing!

buttons, jewels, circle of lace, pom-poms… Honestly I’d go wander around a craft store (take a coupon) and see what’s there. There are millions of little doo-dads in every shape size and color, so see if you find something that just seems to fit with your wedding.

Thank you! I’m sure yours look great, I’ve had a love hate relationship with mine the whole time. I used cardstock paper so it’s really thick and hard to fold not fun to say the least lol. I used 2 different sizes in mine, I wanted to use 3 sizes but found that it created too many gaps in the bouquet. My smallest flowers are 7×7 cm and the bigger ones are 8.5×8.5 cm.

@JenGirl: That’s my problem, I wander around the craft store and find things that I would like for the centers but then get home and can’t decide if I really like it or not and then I have tons of gems and things lying around my house lol.

@tbskelly: I actually took paper in the same prints and rolled it up & used that as my centers. I’ve seen buttons & jewels but those didn’t fit with the look I was going for. And I also used extra floral wire I had and wrapped along the “handle” as I added flowers to help keep them in place. It was kind of a pain but I otherwise had alot of issues keeping them in the shape I wanted.
Here’s my pic:
