Bit of a dilema! My gf and I are getting engaged and where as have found a ring that she likes, I am more fussy. It started off that I had no idea whatsoever what sort of ring I’d like for the engagement and then through chatting to people on here, whittled down to a low stone setting, and perhaps something with a blue sapphire as the centre stone and then diamonds circling it. It had to be white gold too.
Luckily, this is a very popular ring design and I’ve been able to find versions of it everywhere. It’s very similiar to the ring Kate Middleton has. But today, when we were looking at various variants of it, we encountered a problem. I’ve seen two versions that I absoutely love. One version is more expensive but still within our budget and has a natural blue sapphire surrounded by diamonds. The diamonds look gorgeous and the ring looks expensive. However, the other version is a man made sapphire surrounded by cubic zirconia and less expensive. Although the natural and diamond version of the ring is obviously of better quality and harder stones, I love the electric blue look of the man made ring. The size is also a little larger and looks more elegant on my hands than the smaller more expensive ring. We could not afford a sapphire of this size if it were naturally made.
I’m really not fussy about whether or not my ring is cubic zirconia, diamond, man made sapphire or natural sapphire and would never like to upgrade my ring. However, what is important to me is that this ring lasts. If I choose the man made sapphire circled by cubic zirconias – which I honestly prefer the look off, am I setting myself up for dissapointment and a ring that wont last?
