I’m dress shopping and I just feel more confident in a lace dress with a lot of structure. I tried on one, the Maggie Sottero Amelia, that fit great and I loved the boning etc, but hate the lace pattern.
What other manufacturers make a lace dress with a lot of structure? I’m small but have a large chest, so these silk dresses with an overlay just look like a tent on me 🙁

@msrmz: I recently tried on a few Matthew Christopher dresses, which were lace with quite a bit of structure. The lace on them was beautiful!

Maggie Sottero’s Ellie had quite a lot of structure, and it is gorgeous!

I’m wearing Essense of Australia D1398. It is boned and the lace is meticulously applied directly to the dolce satin so there is no lace overlay at all. I got mine (floor sample) for $1450 (USD) including taxes. Hem + bustle was an additional $200.

My Judd Waddell has tons of structure!

I have a different lace Maggie. Her styles all have different types of lace. I would keep looking at her stuff if you liked that dress otherwise.

@msrmz: Are you open to something that isn’t strapless? I’m wearing Sottero and Midgley Amara and it is such a beautiful, full lace dress, with great structure. There is an inner corset and boning. I also have a large chest but am not a very big girl (street size 6).
Here it is on the model. I am not wearing the sash.

Monique lhuillier has an amazing line of lace dresses. Her dress “belle” has amazing structural details to it… It was nearly my dress… U til i tried it on lol it just wasnt working for me. But it is pretty mich the definition of “lace dress with structure”

@KMoon5314: I would love something that isn’t strapless. I tried Bronwyn and loved the lace pattern but the dress had no substance and wasn’t working.

@msrmz: I loved the neck on the Amara – I felt like it actually minimized the look of my chest a bit due to the lines. The dress is so pretty in person. This is me in the sample at the store.

Not really sure what’s meant by a lot of structure, but I think mine qualifies. All it needs is cups sewn in, but the mid section has boning etc, and crinoline at the base.
It’s a Robin Jillian 621.
It’s a couple sizes too big on me for reference. I’m not planning on anything underneath, as it supports itself so well which is nice. The lace has small ‘sparklies’ strewn throughout – little sequins and beads just enough to make it shine. The waist accent has lace ‘fluff’ and pearls and sequins.
(Ignore the slouching….it was pinned back and kept poking 😛 )
