Hello everyone! I am new to the boards and could really use your help!
I said yes to the dress on Saturday! This is my dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Tulle-Over-Satin-A-Line-Gown-with-Lace-Appliques-CWG394_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-Oleg-Cassini
This is a little snapshot of my torso with this dress so you can see some of the detail (I may or may not wear my sash exactly like this, though I did buy the sash and flower). My dress is ivory:

I am dying to have lace cap sleeves or a little keyhole back lace bolero…do you all think this bolero would work? If not, do you have any suggestions of ones that would or where I could find lace cap sleeves that match and are not attached to another dress?
Please pay special attention to the lace applique pattern on my dress, the material, etc.

Thank you all!!! Happy wedding planning!

I voted yes but until you try the two together I dont think you will know 100%, I love the bolero though it is so pretty and so is your dress 🙂 how expensive is the bolero? Could you buy it, try it and then if you dont think it suits either sell it again or keep it and use with casual dresses in summer etc. It is beautiful though!!

Thank you for your feedback, fayrhiannon! It was $59, so I went ahead and bought it to try it. The website says they will do returns, so I figured it was definitely worth a shot! Here’s to crossing our fingers, hoping it works 🙂

I don’t think it would work unless you find a lace bolero that has exactly the same pattern as the dress, otherwise the two patterns would compete, IMO. I think a non lace bolero would be a better option with your beautiful lace dress, if you really want a bolero.

@2ndtime: I agree.
@victorian1: Have you considered a tulle or satin bolero?

Thank you for the feedback! It’s the same “type” of lace, so I’m going to try it, but if it’s too busy or doesn’t work, I won’t wear it. I only want the lace accents as a cap sleeve or bolero, so if I can’t find something lace that will work, I will just go strapless. I can’t find a website/place that sells little lace cap sleeves unless they’re attached to a bolero. 🙁

UPDATE!! I got it….I think it just might work! I’m considering having some beading from the part of my dress that gets cut during alterations put on the bolero…
Although I did just notice that the back of the bolero is NOT like the bolero they advertised…Hmm..Grr.

@victorian1: Could u post a pic of the back of the bolero? I’ve considered this same bolero. Do you like the quality of it? Thanks!

I think the lace types are close enough so they’ll work just fine; particularly because the lace appliqué on your lovely dress “fades” out towards the hem, revealing yet another fabric type.
May I ask from where did you purchase the bolero? I’m seeking similar Alençon lace boleros for my BMs (in navy, though)

@Sarafinna:
I just saw your message today–this photo is of the back of the bolero–you can see the front in the mirror image, too. It is really good quality; I highly recommend Tulip Bridal.

@Ivorybuttons: I purchased it from Tulip bridal on Etsy. It is beautiful & arrived quickly. I’ve seen some navy blue satin ones on their page! They also have a website:

Hi Victorian. I am planning the get the same wedding dress and perhaps the same bolero from Tulipbridal. Was wondering if you have a close up picture of the lace in the oleo and the lace on the dress. I am hoping for a perfect match. otherwise, would go for tulle straps. Thanks!
