- Wedding: September 2011
so, me and mr. ko are that special kind of crazy, we decided to get married only 3 months after getting engaged. initially, we were planning on jumping on a cruise ship and having the captain marry us (this is how we met in the first place) but my future mil wasn’t thrilled with the idea, and since we both love her we changed our venue to a botanical garden.
fast forward a month and the clock is ticking – we’re down to 2 months and i still haven’t gone physical dress shopping. plenty of internet ogling, and a couple of solid ideas… but, to be honest i was terrified that i wouldn’t be able to find anything that i liked/that fit my rectangular self… and most importantly, didn’t exceed our cheap beer budget.
since we were visiting his family in cincinnati for the 4th, mr. ko’s mom offered to take me dress shopping. 1 shop + 1 hour later and lookie what i found…
too good to be true! they say that for a reason you know? problem was that it was ~$500 more than i wanted to spend(not even counting the necessary alterations)… so there i was feeling like this shopgirl ripped my heart out with her hefty price tag, regretting even stepping foot in this silly shop, kicking myself for even getting my hopes us… and then, wouldn’t you know it – my amazing mother to be came to the rescue – haggled them down and then bought the dress for me?!
the woman is a godess. i really could not have asked for any better. first she birthes and raises this wonderful beautiful man that i get to marry in t-minus 65 days, and then she buys me a wedding dress!! jackpot.
anyways, enough gloating… i need honest opinions ladies! what do you all suggest as far as hair, veil, jewelry? i have slightly longer than shoulder length curly hair and i’m not sure if i should put it up or leave it down.
there’s also a floral, feather and gem embellishment on the side that i’m not 100% on, keep it or have it go the way of the dodo? (for reference: http://www.allurebridals.com/index.php?id=3&product_id=693)
and lastly, what are some good mother of the groom gifts? she deserves something extra special and i’m at a loss for ideas!
