Talk to your husband about it.  I’m sure he will understand.

I would get the rings from etsy.  Fact is, when you guys have a date-night, or a party, or someplace that you would love to wear the ring because of its meaning, then do so!!

But, that way you have the other set for everyday use.  That’s what I would do.  🙂

Since the ring is sentimental to you, could you have it remade into a different ring that would be more comfortable rather than getting totally different rings?

ETA – if you can have the ring remade, tell your Darling Husband that, while you love the ring, it scratches/snags/is uncomfortable and you’d like to have it remade into something that isn’t causing those things.  I think I would “handle” it easier if I knew you wanted to keep the ring but modify it rather than just store it away for “sometimes”.

I would maybe talk to the husband. But I think the new ring for everyday use would be good and then wear your sentimental ring whenever you go out.

@TessaDL:  Well, I don’t know a ton about jewelry, but I’d guess that that a jeweler could remove the diamonds, design a new ring and incorporate (if you choose) the diamonds in the new design.  As for cost, who knows?  If they have an existing mold of something you like, then maybe not much?  If they have to do a wax of it, then maybe more than you want to pay?

It’s just something to consider and/or look into.

I’d say explain the whole thing to him.  I’m sure he’ll understand and wonder why you didn’t say anything sooner!

Some others have mentioned this, but you could see if the stone could be made into another ring or piece of jewelry (such earings if you have more than one stone).  If not, get a nice chain and wear it around your neck – that way it’s closer to your heart!  🙂

Maybe your husband could get you the more comfortable ring/rings you want for a Christmas (or other holiday) gift! That way it would still be special since he gave it to you? Definitely let him know about your dilemma, I’m sure he’ll understand. And great idea, BLeigh, about wearing the ring around your neck!

I’d get the more comfortable rings to wear everyday, and remake the other ring into some other piece of jewellery, like perhaps a necklace so you can ALSO wear it everyday if you want.
