I recently learned that a designer I like, that has a poor selection in my area, is having a trunk show at their flagship store about 3 hours away. I never been to a trunk show and do not know what to expect. Bottom line, are they worth it? Should I make the appointment?

Are you ready to buy your dress now? because if so then its definitely worth going. But if your wedding isnt til december 2012 you may want to hold off since there will be newer gowns by then

I’m ready to buy for the right gown. But lately I have been just looking. I dont want to wait until the next big trunk show next summer and not be able to buy, hence the conflict.

I’d say go! What do you have to lose? (And your wedding day is on my birthday yay!)

Definitely go! You might feel a great deal! 🙂

If you are ready to buy a gown (you’ve tried on lots of dresses, have an idea of what you are looking for) then I say go for it! Trunk shows have great deals if you know you like this designer!

Since your wedding is over a year away, I say wait. There will probably be 2 new lines introduced before then. Also, there are zillions of trunk shows in late winter/early spring so this definitely won’t be your only opportunity. Also, there is a Pronovias flagship store in Manhattan.
If you really want to buy this early, it is probably worth your while to go.
A trunk show will have a very good selection of the designer’s dresses. Probably everything from the most current line. However, if you are interested in earlier dresses, I would call first to see if the sample will be available. Usually there are discounts (anywhere from 10-20% off). There are also usually discounts on custom changes–different neckline, sash, hollow-to-hem, etc.
