The rings you have pictured are gorgeous! I love the bigger halos, especially around vibrantly colored gemstones – very vintage/antique-feeling. My mother has an antique emerald ring that she inherited from my grandmother and it’s so stinkin’ BEAUTIFUL. 💖

As for me, my boyfriend’s already bought my dream ring! It’s hiding in our tiny apartment somewhere and I’m just waiting on whatever proposal he has planned now~

I love floral motifs, milgrain, rose gold, colored stones, and pastels. So of course it was like love at first sight when I saw this moonstone ring on Etsy:

I even got to try it on for like 3 seconds when my boyfriend got it just to make sure it fit perfectly. No pics of it on my hand, but I snagged this photo that shows off the facets in the stone pretty well:

He was honestly super relieved that I wanted to take the reigns on choosing my own ring and told him outright everything I was looking for (I showed it to him the moment I found it to also see if he liked it, declared it my “dream ring”, sent him the exact link to buy it, and let him know that of the customizable metal options offered I wanted 18k rose gold).

He said he would have been stressed out of his mind about what to get me, where to start, and second/triple/quadruple-guessing himself and any decisions he would have made – he’s just that unsure and paranoid about stuff like this, haha.

He’s happy I made his job easy and I’m happy because I know for sure I’ll love the ring and whatever proposal he’s got up his sleeves. So, win-win!

vintagegirl13 :  Thanks! I’m so dang excited for him to pop the question, obviously because I can’t wait to marry him but also partially because then I can finally wear that ring forever lol!

That sounds like a good idea to have a proper discussion! I think if I had to be more coy about it, I’d probably drop it into conversation that like “Oh that’s a nice ring, but I think gemstones are much prettier for an engagement ring, at least IMO. I’ve always wanted a colored gemstone myself like my nanna…etc. etc.” if we were ever watching something and a character got engaged (or something similar to that). That would have felt like a good ice breaker/segue into a real talk about marriage/rings.

And if he’s already got marriage on the mind he’ll probably be taking mental notes anyway but I think it’ll really have to be a time when you’ve got his full attention and his mind is on a potential proposal, otherwise it’ll just be another “interesting conversation” for him lol. I mean, I don’t know your SO and he may be super perceptive, which in that case, you know better than anyone else what he’ll take away or won’t from dropping him hints!

But in my experience, I think “aggressively planting ideas” (especially visually if you have images to show him of what rings you like) is much more effective to get a point across than subtle hints and passing remarks. Like saying that you like halos would be good, but I feel like a lot of men don’t even know what a “halo” on a ring is, so that’s when it’s good to show him what that is and then he can mentally file that away into “interesting facts” + “things vintagegirl13 likes” + “possible proposal/ring ideas”. Not saying all men need that, but just in my experience as my SO and I are both pretty dense/forgettable people and we have learned that we need to be super blunt with each other and visual aids help a lot LOL.

I hope you’ll be able to get across the message to your SO! I’m sure it’ll work out that he knows your style and gets you better than anyone else (but good idea of yours to help him along the way, just in case lol!)

We have been together 10+ years and I am waiting and definitely ready!!! We have spoken about it a lot and he has just finally finished studying and started working fulltime so I don’t think it’ll be too much longer! I would loveee a marquise with a halo. Would be perfect! I am a little picky and change my mind a bit so being able to make it together would be lovely! LOL

I just want a “Tiffany style” solitaire setting. White gold knife edge band, 6 prongs, at least 1.5 carats, round. Keeping it simple, mostly because he won’t let me pick it out. I love the way a simple solitaire looks with a shared prong diamond wedding band. 😍 Can’t wait! 😃

My mom has the prettiest tanzanite rings! Those big halos also feel so Duchess Kate!

I’m a lady in waiting, too! My boyfriend and I picked out my ring together. Although we had every intention of just getting a general feel for what I liked, I accidentally fell in love with one and he liked it too! I’m very particular in what I like, and I think he was feeling a little anxious about spending so much money on something with so many options – especially because I ended up hating on my hand the two rough options I had given him lol, a pear or oval halo.

Because I have no actual pictures, here’s a link to the website: http://www.shaneco.com/detail/pave-set-round-diamond-halo-platinum-engagement-ring/41076655

The thinner halo sits underneath the main stone, though it’s kind of hard to tell 🙂

This is my dream ring! I know my Boyfriend or Best Friend has ordered something very similar with the designer so I’m really excited (they said that my exact dream ring needs a 3ct stone–lol nope, so we’re doign something inspired by it).

This will be our second time getting married so I figured I’d pick the ring. I love love looooove luuurve this ring. The color and design are impeccable. He wants more side stones and bling but I don’t want the headache of stones falling out. It’s simple and classy. I love it!!

I didn’t drop hints. I told him exactly what I wanted. So we shall see :).

I’m not waiting yet, but I have two favorite rings. The first is the Boston Bezel from Schubach’s. I’ve loved bezels ever since I saw one in the ring case at Costco, but I’m not quite sure I’ll end up picking one. I prefer round stones, but there’s just something about this one that I love.

The ring I keep going back to and will probably end up telling my SO I want is from Moissanite & Co. I haven’t seen it anywhere, but I’m stuck on it. I would just make it so a band could sit flush and change the stone to a F1.
