I haven’t finished mine yet, just have to attached them to the hangers and I might redo mine to say Mrs “hubby’s last name” instead of Bride.

Made it myself…took several tries until I was satisfied.  My suggestions for anyone who wants to DIY:

– I painted an IKEA hanger (pack of 8 for something like $5 or so) (You have to snap off the bottom part of the hanger and rip out the nails that hold that on…not too hard, though)  Then I drilled holes with a small drill bit into each side in order to secure the wire (also added some super glue–using a toothpick–in the hole with the wire to secure it more)

– I got the purple wire from JoAnn…can’t remember off hand what gauge I used but I can check if anyone wants to know

– The thinner the wire, the easier to manipulate (and you can bend it with your hands vs. pliers, therefore not leaving marks on the wire)

– Try writing out the way you want your letters to look on paper first, so you can figure out how to bend the wire accordingly

– Leave lots of extra wire on the “ends” because you don’t want it falling out of the hanger

– I did 6 of these total as I also did them for my bridal party

I just started my wire hangers today.  I bought 12 gauge jewelery wire from Michaels, it seems to work a lot better then the galvanized 12 gauge wire from Home Depot… it is more plyable.

What do people think?  I feel like I need to practice so much more.  Does anyone know how to make the letters look more crisp?  Is anyone using any type of tool that makes things look more circular?  Or anything that helps make the lines at the beginning and end more straight?

The most of the ones on Etsy are very crisp looking.  But it is FAR cheaper to make these yourself if you can.  About $1-2 for the hanger and with the 50% of coupon at Michaels the wire was about $2.50 for 3 yards.

Any help would be appricated!

I bought mine off of AllegroArt on Etsy. I literally just took this picture. It’s a little beat since the wedding is over and it was transferred everywhere. I love it so much. I got so many compliments.

I got my contact info from some website but cannot recall what it was…It was a Canadian wedding website. Anyways, turns out the girl lived right around the corner from me so it was perfect! I think she did an amazing job!!!

Whiskey ‘n Wedding Bells specializes in personalized hangers for brides and bridesmaids. I bought Whiskey ‘n Wedding Bell’s personalized hangers as a bridal shower gift for a bride and her bridesmaids. She loved it!  I felt like it was personal, creative, and unexpected!

These are all so pretty! It seems like quite a few of you ladies are making your own and I might have to try. I think they will look super cute in pictures and they’re something I’m sure bridesmaids love too.

Future_Mrs.H im going to make mine as well. I have done some research on them and i think using aluminium wire makes it easier to move around. I am also thinking of making my own wire jig so that i can easily make the letters and have then round about the same size. I will hopefully get the materials in the next week and will have a DIY up very soon. Also if you use plyers wrap some wadding or other soft material around the nose of them so you dont mark the wire.
