So I got engaged on July 14th and will be having a whirlwind engagement as I will be getting married on November 8th (city hall) with a very non-traditional reception/party on the evening of November 9th. Meaning less than 3 months away…Yikes.
I will be doing my own make-up, but hair? I need help on. So ladies, WHEN in relation to your wedding did you have your first hair trial? I have a busy schedule coming up with work, so I am trying to prioritize. Thankfully it’s not prom/wedding season so scheduling shouldn’t be an issue.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!

I am having my hair trial 2 weeks before the wedding day, as I am going to a friends wedding, and figure its a good way to see how it will hold up all day and night.

I will be doing mine about a month before. It will keep it fresh in my stylists mind and I my hair will pretty much be the exact same at the time of my wedding.

I’m going to do mine about a month before. She is my regular haristylist and has been for 6 years, I have no fears that I will not like her work. I will have my makeup trial done the same day, and will decide if I want to hire the MUA or DIY it.

so about 2 months before.

I had mine (only 1 needed) a month and a half before. I didn’t want it too early. I’d probably go from a 2 months to a few weeks before. Anytime would work between those.

Thank you! Now I don’t feel so stressed about “only” having 3 months.

@MrsNewDay: I had mine Monday just gone, so 4 weeks out. I think thats a good length, not to early and not to late and it will still be fresh in the stylists mind. If you are wanting to have the trial earlier ask to get pics taken so they can refer back to for reference.

@MrsNewDay: I would suggest not waiting if you are going with a stylist you’re not familiar with.
The first person I went to was HORRIBLE! I mean I could have done better myself blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back.
So I was really happy I did it early (last month) because it gave me time to find another, well reviewed stylist who still had my date open. I was so happy with my 2nd trial last week and feel so confident my hair will look great on my wedding day.

My salon would only book a hair trial a month before the wedding, so I did mine last month. I knew what I wanted and she did a great job (she’s my regular stylist).

My hair trial was on a Wednesday and I got married on that Saturday.

My first and hopefully only trial for hair and makeup will be this Saturday morning. My wedding is in November however I decided to get some use out of the trial, so I scheduled my engagement pictures for Saturday too. Hopefully it all goes well.

I did mine a few months before the wedding (I timed it with my boudoir shoot).

I had mine done 2 weeks before.

@MrsNewDay: I did have a hair and make up trial. Only because I have very curly hair, so I feel its harder to work with than someone who has straight or wavy hair. I wanted to make sure it would come out as I pictured it. My wedding is in Sept, I did the trial in May
