We are TTC in May after our trip in April. I don’t always get my period on BC ( been on for like 9 or 10 years?), and its been especially non existent int he last two or three years since ive been on Lo Estrin
Some months I get it , some months I don’t.
I’m not really wanting to get off bc now, because I don’t want to be pregnant on our trip in April ( its a bike trip, so I would like to be feeling good!) but I’m worried if I don’t get my period now, it might take me forever to get pregnant, lol.
I am looking to hear from other women who didn’t always get their period on hormonal BC- how long did it take you to get PG ? Should I just get off of it now and be careful until May?
Also my poll got posted without me finishing it…just ignore it I can’t seem to fix it

Hi there, I would ask your OB. We are going to start trying in April and he went ahaed and told me not to take the BC anymore and started me on a prenatal vitamin. I was on Lo Lo Esterin for several years and barely ever got a period as well.

allsmiles92 : thanks for the reply!! Did you get your period after getting off BC?

Yes I did and it has been on schedule each time. I stopped the Lo Lo esterin at the start of December and just started taking the prenatal about a week or two ago. We are just being careful in the meantime 🙂

It took me 9 months with fertility treatments, I didn’t get my period back at all once I stopped the pill.

I’m not TTC, but it took me 6 months for my period to return after the pill!

I was in lo loestrin too. My period was regular from my first cycle off bc in October. We are going to start ttc during my next cycle. So I can’t speak for how quickly I conceivedbut since I was on the same bc I thought I’d tell you how it’s. Even for me.

Mostly tagging to follow out of my own curiosity. I’ve been on Lo Loestrin for 2.5 years with no period. The doctor had me take a month off to run some tests (for other reasons) and I got my period back right away, 3 weeks after I finished my last pack.
I’m hoping when the time comes, it will return right away, but I’m prepared to give myself a few months lead time before TTC.

I was on lo loestrin as well and I NEVER got my period. I got off of it in January and got my period back right away, but we didn’t start to TTC until August. I got pregnant in September.

I wasn’t on the same pill as you, but I was on a different pill for years and just went off in August 2016. Since then my cycles have been CRAZY long (eg 67 days) with no ovulation, and my periods have only been two super light days. I have been temping and using OPKs since going off the pill (because of an unrelated medical issue I wanted to get pregnant quickly). I thought that I would have no issues going off the pill and that my cycle would just go back to normal because that’s what happened with both of my sisters, but now 5 months later I really wish that I had gotten off it much earlier.
I think that if you want to get pregnant quickly then you should go off now. If you are ok with it taking maybe a year then wait until after your trip.

I would stop taking the pill now to give your body time to adjust. Use a condom in the meantime. I stopped birth control last April-May and am still not pregnant. I wish I would have stopped sooner to give my body more time to regulate.

It’s going to be years before we TTC, but I’ve always wondered this. I was on lo estrin for ears and never had a period. I’m on a different pill now and barely have them, so this is definitely something I’ve thought about for the future.

Boxerlover24 : I was on BC for almost 13 years and was on Lo Loestrin for the last 4 of them. I would be generous to say I had 3 periods the entire time I was on it. I went off BC in Oct 2015 and had my breakthrough bleeding 3-4 days after stopping then exactly 28 days from when I stopped I got my period! For the most part it’s been very regular. I had two periods one month and then had my period for 11 days another month but it has always been around a 26-28 day cycle. I’d say go off now and let it flush from your body, just be careful. I downloaded an app to track my period and hanky panky to prevent getting pregnant. Good luck!
