I had a cushion cut solitaire during my first marriage and it got compliments all the time. I think people just generally like shiny things lol.

Not everyone likes elaborate rings so i’m sure people who have more simple rings still get compliments.

It seems really weird to assume they wouldn’t!

I love solitares because they are timeless and not busy. Also just easier for me to clean and keep sparkling.

I wanted a solitare I just couldn’t pick between round or princess cut so I told my fiance to decide on that piece.I recieved a princess cut. I do get compliments when people ask to look at it. I can’t post pics from my work PC or I would. Its a .78 (not sure on colors and all that stuff but its clear with few flaws??) with white gold and on a 8.5. I thought that would look really small but fits me well.

I definitely get compliments on mine.  I think with a solitaire people tend to zoom in on the stone, so that’s what gets the most compliments for me.  Then when they see the side view of my setting they go “oh! I didn’t see that!” and they seem to like it a lot.  Bad office lighting pics:

I get compliments all the time. It’s funny how a classic traditional ring has become the new “stand out” because everyone seems to have a halo these days. To each their own but I’ve always wanted a solitaire and I love mine. There is a lot of beauty in simplicity.

MrsGirlyGirl :  I’ve gotten nothing but positive responses to mine. But tbh I don’t really care of anyone doesn’t like it or thinks it’s too simple. I think it’s nice and I’m not a flashy person so I would feel weird having anything that wasn’t simple.

HA! This question made me laugh out loud. My solitaire is rose gold repro Tiffany Setting. I get compliments all of the time. Maybe not all day every day but definitely daily.

I wanted a solitaire because it is timeless and elegant. I think lots of people get them or compliment them for that same reason. I think also because white gold/ platinum halos are so popular right now some people are also pleasantly surprised when they see something different.

MrsGirlyGirl :  a solitaire is like a white shirt. There are many different types of white shirts, tbh it’s hard to find the perfect white shirt.

of course solitaire gets compliments. It’s not easy to make something simple and beautiful, with no distractions.

MrsGirlyGirl :  I have a plain solitaire, I get compliments but not an over the top amount. I know some women that have halos and double halos and I’ve been around when they get lots of oohs and ahhs, I think those rings can appear biggger/flashier so they sometimes draw more attention? I don’t know, I personally don’t like the look of a halo and don’t really care if I get compliments on my ring or not.

I have a cushion solitare on a plain white gold cathedral setting.  For all intents and purposes, it IS pretty boring and I don’t get a ton of compliments from strangers (but I also don’t give a ton of compliments to others either).

What I do get is a lot of questions from friends/acquaintances who are planning on getting engaged soon and ask me about the specs/where I found the stone/setting because it’s exactly what they want for their own engagement ring.

I’ve worn my ring for 2 1/2 years and no longer get as many because 1. it’s no longer new and 2. nobody really cares about my ring but me.

I get a good amount of compliments on mine, but I think it’s because, though it’s a solitaire, it’s in a unique setting 🙂 The strangers who have complimented me are always impressed by the fact that it looks like a rose (forgive the random collage 😂 handiest pic I had and didn’t feel like scrolling back super far on my phone!)
