I’m having a little bit of a band dilemma.
When my Fiance proposed, he presented me with a gorgeous Scott Kay solitaire engagement ring with surprise diamonds. I absolutely adore every aspect of my ring, and the surprise diamonds are literally my favorite part of the whole setting.
The only problem is, the surprise diamonds stick out a little bit on each side of the ring, so whenever I try on a band, it makes a gap between the rings.
This is my engagement ring (except mine has a princess cut center stone) and the band that was made to go with it, but… I don’t really like the band.
What I’d really prefer is something like this, but again… the gap would bother me.
Is there anything I could have done to the band to make them fit together better? How feasible would it be to have some kind of groove put into the band so that it accommodates my surprise diamonds?
Any help is appreciated! 🙂

Mine has suprise diamonds too that stick out a little bit, my bands have little gaps inbetween but they are small enough to not bother me. How much of a gap does yours have? You could try talking to a jeweler about making a custom band that will sit flush with your e-ring I’m sure.

Ooo that looks pretty. Thank you sooo much for sharing!
At the jeweller’s it felt like I had a bigger gap, but it was also extremely hard to tell because the ring I was looking at was a size 7 and my e-ring is a 4.5.
After seeing your post, I borrowed my mom’s plain gold band to try to get a better idea of the gap, and it wasn’t bad at all. There was still a little bit of a gap, but not enough to bother me. At least I know that if I do get my channel-set ring and don’t like it, I can always get an inexpensive plain band that will work alright.

@rachelmichelle: Yeah the little gaps don’t bother me at all! I actually didn’t even notice them till I looked at the pic lol. It was probably the fact that the ring you tried on was so much bigger that made the gap seem more extreme. It sucks you can’t try on the channel ring in a smaller size to get an idea. Was your mom’s band about the same thickness as the channel set one you tried on?

@october22: First off, I absolutely love both of your e-rings! I am also totally in love with your third ring in the stack (the one farthest back on your finger). If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get it? I don’t wear my e-ring to work and want to find a band to wear while I”m at work. I love that it’s a flat ring, but that it’s unique.

1/2 carat diamond
1/4 carat diamonds
Th matching one to my e-ring was raised but sat funny on my tiny fingers. So we went with a channel instead.
