I honestly don’t have an answer to your question, so just providing hugs here. I was hoping my Fiance would propose on my birthday and so…I went out, got my hair done, gushed about it to my hairdresser for two hours, went out for dinner, held my breath the entire time. Waited…waited…waited….and then cried my eyes out.

After he proposed a few months later, I told him about it…we can joke about it now πŸ™‚

Honestly, if I could go back in time, I would tell myself to enjoy my darn bday with the love of my life, and just rest assured it is going to happen and that the ring wil lbe beautiful because trust me…even the most forgetful men and clueless ones will pay attention to the bling–they know it’s a pretty important decision and agonize over it.

(My Fiance agonized so much he ended up just taking me to the jeweller and having me pick one I like…lol)

I would hope the proposal and excitement of everything would outweigh a possible “ugly” engagement ring.  Good luck to you.

I have a small little ring I wear on my right hand that I’m not particularly fond of. It’s not bad, but it’s not something I’d love to wear forever. That kind of deal.

Anyway, SO knows I don’t like the ring THAT much, and I had a dream that he got me one that was identical. I was so excited that we were engaged but I was so upset that the ring looked just like the one I don’t care for! So don’t worry, you’re not alone in this weirdness.

Oddly enough, both my sister and I had nightmares before I got engaged about me getting an ugly e-ring. Luckily, those dreams didn’t come true.

Stop thinking about the proposal!!!! I did this for over a year to myself. Every birthday, valentines day, anniversary, christmas that came and went without a proposal left me devasted. I always convinced myself that “this is the day” that he would do it. It ended up ruining all of those holidays for us for that year…year and half? He did proposal COMPLETELY out of the blue one day when no holiday was in sight!

I know it is hard but stop thinking about it…he will do it when he does it…enjoy every day and holiday to the fullest and then when you least expect it he will do it and it will be a huge surprise…and maybe that dream is a precursor to it happening πŸ™‚

Good luck….deep breaths πŸ™‚

I always said (and believed) that any ring my Fiance picked would be the right one, because it symbolized our engagment/love. When my friends would talk about what they wanted from their BF’s, I would say, “I have no preference, whatever he picks is fine”. Then the dreams started.  I dreamt about a black heart ring, a wooden ring, a rope ring, etc. I started to get nervous, because I was afraid i WOULD care about the ring afterall.  But then he proposed, and while I do LOVE the look of the ring, what it symbolizes is still more important.

I had ugly ring dreams for weeks. I know it sounds shallow, but I REALLY wanted a pretty ring. I knew that people would see it and judge him for it (people will say this isn’t true, but sorry…it is) so I wanted it to be just as perfect as him.

OMG I totally had ugly ring dreams before being proposed to! Either it was a wierd stone (like a mood ring looking thing) or there was no stone or the ring was so tiny it wouldn’t fit on any finger.

I would tell my Fiance about it that morning and he was always just like “what do you think it means?!” My proposal was a total surprised and I had nothing to do at all with designing my ring other than showing him one pic of a ring I liked. He was probably actually nervous that I wouldn’t like the real thing!

I know exactly what my ring looks like and I STILL have nightmares about it. They are much more grotesque than yours though, if that makes you feel better. Dreams about how the stone is encased in some green goop and things like that. I was feeling obsessive about it for a while, who knows why because like I said, I already know what it looks like, and it went away. You’ll be fine!

I feel the same way!  I try to leave as many “hints” as humanly possible, but its still scary!   Its such a big investment, I dont want to end up with something I’m just “living with”.

It also reminds of when Carrie found the ring Aidan was going to use on Sex and the City and she was soooo disappointed!
