@medbride:   Hi Medbride,

I was actually considering this venue as well…given the scenic location, but based on the way I was treated during my first meeting, decided I would go elsewhere. To elaborate, I was emailing back and forth with the owner and we finally agreed to meet in the evening at a set time. When I walked in, I walked around, there were a few people sitting at tables, I mentioned to the bartender that I had an appointment and he asked me to take a seat. He flagged down the owner and turns out she was sitting right there chatting with people. She eventually got up and when he (bartender)mentioned I was there, she walked by waived her hand and kept going. I sat there for another 15 mintues before she eventually came over—it was very strange. When I mentioned we were expecting approx. 100 guests, she said, “oh, I thought it was a larger group.” After asking to see the upstairs, she eventually took me up, but was reluctant. WE ended up going upstairs, but I didn’t really get to see the space. Once downstairs, I thought we would discuss the details. I sat down and thought she would as well, but she remained standing the entire time. It felt as though she had other places to go and people to see. She mentioned she would send me pictures of the upstairs space, but never did. I can’t say it left me with a very good impression. Hopefully you’ll have a much better experience.

@medbride:   We ended up going with Courtyard. The event planner is awesome and service is top-notch!

@medbride:

much like soon-to-be-wed, we had the exact same experience with the owner of Lago.  We are from Ottawa but live in Toronto and have been trying to arange most of our wedding long-distance.  After several attempts to meet with her on the weekends we were in Ottawa, we finally had to take time off of work to go there during the week.  She never once made an attempt to make special arrangements for us.

We met with her yesterday finally, and what a huge disappointment!  If i had known that she was going to be late, show up in a track suit and treat  us the way she did, we NEVER would have picked this venue!

We had our 19-month old with us as well, and even though our daughter stood directly in fron tof her and smiled, the owner never once smiled back or even said hello!  Talk about rude!  Trust me, the view is not worht the poor customer servcie!  We don’t have a choice but to stay with this venue (the wedding is 3 weeks away) but I will do my darndest to be sure that our experience is spread!

Good luck!

@medbride:  A friend of mine got married there in 2011. Sorry, had their reception there and they were extremely pleased with Lago, as an attendee, the hall was beautiful and the service was great!

I had originally booked with courtyard, but I had a bad experience with them, and we got Married at Sidedoor. Check out Sidedoor if you’re still venue shopping 🙂

Happy Planning!

I booked at Lago for January 2014.

She was fantastic, the venue is beautiful and modern. I’ve also heard great reviews directly from friends who have attended weddings there.

Sad to hear that some of you had a poor experience, but I can tell you that mine has been great so far.
