I think you’d look amazing in a mermaid. It would show off your hourglass figure and the flare at the bottom would balance out your large top. I think you could do strapless, just make sure it’s boned and has something built in for support.

@MrsRedPumps: Go to Nordstrom. VS told me that they didn’t carry 32D, so I should switch to 34C. No. Just no. Thanks for playing VS. Your secret’s that you don’t know how to measure.
Nordstrom measures and then gives you fit bras so you can fine tune according to cup style. It’s pretty awesome 🙂

@AnotherMrsBrown:
I went with a fit and flare in the end. Well, actually it was a really slim a-line that was modified to be like a fit and flare. I liked mermaids too, but it was impossible to find a nice one that wasn’t strapless.

@Bainise2013: Ooo did you post a pic? It bet it’s lovely. Also, totally off topic, but I read what you wrote about wrong bra sizes and I think this is me.
I’m really small in the chest and used to wear a 34A, but it never fit right. I recently got measured and was told I was a 32B. The cups fit much better but the band now feels a bit tight. I’m about 5’9″ and about a UK size 10 on top.
I’m about to move back to the UK and was wondering if you could recommend somewhere to go and get measured correctly?

Pm me and I can send you a pic of the dress.
In terms of measurements, the best way to find your back size is to measure directly under your chest and see what that measure is. So if that measurement is 32 then you’d start off with a 32 bra back. Slim people like you often have to go up one size from this measurement though, so you’d maybe feel more comfortable as a 34 back. Then cup size really requires trying on a variety of bras.
These posts really explain it well: http://www.thinandcurvy.com/p/bra-fitting.html/.
The UK is lucky enough to have the Bravissimo chain. Their bras start at a D cup, BUT you could be a 28D for all you know. This is because the back can feel tight if the cups are too small even if the back is the right size. Crazy, but true!! Independent lingerie boutiques are also good bets for you. Debenhams can be okay too. Marks and Spencer is a very bad at measuring even though their bras are nice.

I am a 34D (I think? Used converter, 75E in EU size). Heres my dress! Too large in the waist though, will be adjusted in May a few weeks before the wedding.

I am US 8 and wear bra-size 75D (which is in US I guess 34D).
Here is me in my wedding dress. I wore a strapless bra under my dress, because I do not like how the cleavage “swings” without bra. The bra makes it look more fixed.

There was no problem with the backside of the dress, because there are two straps inside to put the closure of the bra into it. So it cannot look outside. 😉
There was also no problem while dancing. And when I say dancing, I mean it 😉

I am a 36F and I’m wearing a strapless! I was concerned when I went to try on the dress because it wasn’t my size. After I ordered it and tried it on in my actual size it fit perfectly. The dress does have a built in bustier which hooks in the back and then zips up over the hooks for added support. I obvioulsy haven’t worn it longer than an hour yet, but I didn’t have to pull it up or adjust it at all during my first fitting!
*Edit – Soo, I just realized this post was from 4 years ago and you obvioulsy found a dress. Hope everything worked out for you!!

Bainise2013 : I’m a 44D (size 14 US) and I had straps and I don’t regret it. I wore a corset-like undergarment but the dress itself had straps. For me, having straps was not negotiable. I had zero wardrobe malfunctions and no almosts.
