Hello! I am actively looking for venues in and around Philadelphia, for a larger Indian wedding (300/35/400). I don’t want to go the traditional hotel ballroom route and want something a little warmer, and which will also work with us on an Indian-inspired menu — perhaps even let us bring our own caterer in (shocking request, I know). This is quite a task to say the least. Any thoughts or suggestions or places to avoid would be super helpful. Thank you!!!

I know my friends are having a bigger wedding and they are getting married at the Mutter (spelling?) museum. The Horticulture center may also be an option, but I’m not sure of the size.

I looked into the mutter and I don’t think it would work, the space isn’t super huge and there are not multiple event rooms/spaces within it. I would suggest the constitution cenrter which is gigantic, the curtis center, pa academy of fine arts or the please touch museum

Have you looked at the Drexelbrook? It isn’t in Philadelphia (it is in Delaware county) but they can handle outside caterers and have done Indian weddings. Here is a link to their site and specifically the Indian wedding page. Good luck! (http://www.drexelbrookcatering.com/page.asp?page=indian)

A friend of a friend is having hers at The Franklin Institute. I believe she’s inviting 300, but it does have a specific caterer required.
Also, Waterworks is another option. Again, not sure on the caterer.

Thank you! We have looked at the Please Touch, and its beautiful. Will also be looking at the Fiance. My fear about Constitution Center is a little too austere, but I have never been to a wedding there. Will def. look at Drexelbrook. Thanks so much.

I went to a wedding at the Fiance and it was just under 200 people and it felt so crowded and tight, I have been to several at the drexelbrook and they have always been so nice!
