To make a long story short, I ended up with this huge venue with spacious windows and high ceilings and a less than 60 person count. It’s 6 days before the wedding, so not as if I can invite more people as “fillers.” I wouldn’t be so stressed if the room were smaller but I’m afraid it will look so empty! Here are some pictures of the venue: http://www.sandspringsgolf.com/weddings/image-gallery/
I figure we have a dj, a cake table, a gift table, a chocolate fountain table and the bar. There’s also the head table, where there are nine of us in the bridal party (including the groom and me), but that takes the count for the other tables down to a 47 person total. A few days ago I asked the coordinator if I can have seven per table and she said that’d be fine. However, now I’m really thinking I should do 6-7 per table so I have at least seven tables. Will six look funny with that size table? Will seven tables be enough to give the room a fuller look?
This is my one biggest concern and I’d love to just put my mind at ease here but I can’t. Do any of you have any ideas on how I can make sure the room doesn’t look too empty?

@saifandrose: don’t you worry, we had some last minute no-shows and had 3 tables of only 6-7 people and they looked absolutely fine! i think your guest count will be great for the room, the worst thing is when you go to a wedding and there’s too many people! 🙂

Adding the extra tables should definitely help fill the space! Just make sure everything is “comfortably” spaced out and you should be fine!

@saifandrose: Omg! I WISH I could place 6-7 people per table. Our venue states that there should be 10 people per table.
The table thing is a great idea!

Thanks, guys! I’m feeling a bit better about it now. I guess worring about it won’t make a difference!

*Update* The wedding ended up looking beautiful! I guess you were all right… I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the reception room after cocktail hour, with 5-6 people per table, and it actually looked great! To anyone else who may come across this thread having the same problem, don’t worry about it. Here are some pictures of how the room turned out (8 tables of 5, 6 and the occasional 7):
