I am 5’1 and my ring size is 4 1/4. I say go for the more elaborate setting but that’s just my opinion. I love the first ring

I love the setting of the first one, so that would be my choice, but both are beautiful!

I’d much rather have a gorgeous setting that I won’t see on everyone else’s finger and slightly smaller stone. Plus, the way the prongs are done on the first setting will make it appear slightly larger. 🙂

I would rather have a unique and elaborate setting than a stock standard ring with a slightly larger diamond.

My vote is for the solitaire.

Take the diamond out of the equation. Would you prefer a solitaire or the more elaborate setting?

What would you prefer if the diamond was going to be 1ct in both settings? Or 1.3ct in both settings?

It’s easy to get caught up in the ‘but the solitaire has the bigger diamond’, but in a year or so time you will care more about the setting than the size.

The larger diamond,  30 points is a considerable difference.  I think people are mistakingly thinking its only a 3 pt difference! You can always upgrade the setting later and chances are you will tire of it or it will look dated at some point.  If you get the better setting, and then want to upgrade your diamond size later,  you will have to replace both.

My vote goes to the higher quality diamond… because diamond!

I recently went from a 0.72 carat solitaire to a 1.03. The size difference is considerable. I’d imagine it is the same between these two stones as well. I voted for the second setting because it’s timeless.

SoonMrsCrocker2:  this exactly. 1/3 of a carat is a significant amount and in the future to upgrade would cost a lot more to get the bigger diamond. I happen to love the setting on the second one also.

I like the first option better. My fiance had a similar decision and went for the more elaborate setting and I love it, its more unique! However, if you think you might change the setting later then you should get the bigger diamond now.

I like the solitaire but I am a little biased since I have one. I definitely see the difference in anything that’s over a carat vs exactly one carat. So I would go for the 1.3! Both are beautiful though!

to me it was an easy choice, while a classic solitare is classic for a reason and simply beautiful. the first option took my breath away. Have you tried either on to see what feels more at home on your finger?
