Tripadvisor will help like the PP said. I go to Vegas a lot (2 or 3 times a year) and we always stay at either The Venitian or The Palazzo. They are sister casinos and they are in my opinion, the best. Every room is a suite, very spacious… really nice. And they are located in the middle of the Strip which is very convenient if you want to walk around and go to other Casinos.

I’ve also stayed at the Elara which is part of Planet Hollywood and it isn’t as nice, but the location is great too. (that’s where we are staying for my bachelorette party. They have massive penthouses)

Just make sure that whatever hotel you stay at, is located in the strip. You are going to find cheaper Hotels like Circus Circus, Stratosphere…. those are a bit far from the strip and you won’t be able to enjoy vegas as much (IMO)

Have fun!!!!!

PS, if you get a chance, you should go check out “O” from Cirque du soleil. AMAZING

paxtonbd:  My favorite hotel is The Trump. The whole hotel is non-smoking and there is no casino so you don’t have to walk through an entire stinky casino to get to your room. It is about 1/2 block off the strip but anyone in half decent shape should have no trouble walking that distance. It is right across the street from one end of the Fashion Mall too- handy to Nordstroms.

OP- if you like to swim or relax around the pool, check to see which hotels actually have their pools open in December. Many of them are closed.

Caesar’s is my personal favorite, but the buffet is ridiculously crowded! last time we were there, I heard it was a 6 hour wait in line for dinner. Luckily we were able to skip the line. the food was good but the sheer number of people inside kinda ruined it for us. But the hotel is beautiful, the pool area super gorgeous and the shops are so convenient and awesome! Their suites are wonderful.

Used to always stay at The Palazzo, and my favorite thing about it is the Walgreens (or was it a CVS?) practically attached to the hotel (you need to exit the hotel but it’s right at the street corner). If you need snacks or whatever, it’s very convenient and much cheaper than the hotel’s own stores. 🙂

my top hotels — Caesar’s, Palazzo, Paris… We mostly stay at Harrah’s/Caesars properties though because of free rooms from their players club, so I don’t have much experience with other hotels besides The Venetian and Palazzo.

I’ve only been once so far, and we stayed at the Riviera. It wasn’t impressive, but it was perfectly fine, and we got a really good deal!

We’re going again in October and staying at the MGM; I hear all good things and I’m really excited.

paxtonbd:  We went in April and stayed at Circus Circus. Its recently renovated and was MUCH nicer than the last time I went (ten years ago). We decided to skimp on the hotel because it was only for sleeping. It is on one end of the strip, but there is a bus stop out front which makes getting anywhere easy. We chose to walk both days we were there and logged 22 miles over two days, so if you’re not prepared to hoof it, go with the bus.

Ive stayed at Stratosphere and Imperial Palace but Im so excited we’re staying at the Venetian for our Honeymoon in January!

Stratosphere is too far from the strip although its nicesish and pretty cheap. Imperial Palace was fantastic location, dirt cheap, but old and not that nice (but you seriously couldnt beat the location for the price).

I think if you want somewhere nice you cant go wrong with the Venetian, Caesars, or Paris. Vegas is awesome and Im sure youll have a blast!

The palazzo I think is one of the best. Ventian and Palazzo have very similar rooms, just different decor, but the palazzo is smaller and the rooms are so much more accesible. I remember going to the venetian and getting lost. You can still enjoy both hotels since they are connected. If you’re on a budget I recommend Treasure Island. You get great views of the strip and can see their pirate show from your room. Last time we stayed there, got front row seats to the firewors at the end of the show.
