I’ve been doing my arm pits. I bought a package on Groupon (the best!!), so it was only $150 for 6 sessions. I’ve gone twice and the results are amazing. They would never look totally clean because my hair is so dark, now I can go like three days without even seeing stubble which is basically a miracle.

Black hair on white skin works the best. If you are caucasian or asian and trying to remove hair “down there” or armpit hair, it will work beautifully.  If you are african american, not so much, but it could still work if you’re choosing hair darker than your skin.  It just might take longer than 6 sessions.

If you are trying to zap leg hair or facial hair, it is much less effective. Even more so with facial hair because it is a hormonal thing, so new hair will grow, even if they effectively kill off all the old hair.

Finally, make sure you only use a laser center with a guarantee. Some centers charge you by session, or with a package of 6 sessions. But you can buy a package from a center that has a guarantee,so if they hair grows back in a certain amount of time (usually two years) then you can go in for as many “free” treatments as you want to get rid of any stubborn growth.

They will try to make you buy special “after laser lotion.” It is a rip off. There is nothing in it worth the $35 bucks they charge for it. You’d be better off getting a high quality aloe cream from the drug store.

Good luck, and happy zapping!

I’ve been seriously considering doing a laser brazilian (in my opinion totally worth the $1500). I’ll have to save up for a while, but that’s ok.

Any bees have any experience with at home lasers? I’ve been looking into it and I’m wondering if the $400 or so is worth it, or just suck it up and go professional. Thoughts?

Home lasers are totally not worth the money – the lasers can never be effective enough and it takes AGES to cover any decent sized area.

I have had professional laser hair removal on legs, armpits and bikin and it was totally worth it – best money I ever spent. I have fair skin but just light brown hair so it took 8 sessions but I now am virtually hairless (just a few very fine baby hairs on parts of legs and armpits that I either leave alone or razor off once every couple of months). I could go back and get a top up (you need to use a different laser for the very fine hairs, I was advised) but not sure if I’ll bother. Agree with previous poster – don’t bother with their creams and potions – just get massive bottle of cheap aloe cream or gel to soothe. Although I also liked using the Avene spray to take the sting out.

I am in the process of having my armpits, full bikini and legs done…

It is expensive and hurts but to me it is totally worth it.

I am currently doing a brazillian laser treatment. The results have been pretty amazing. I have a few spots that seem to be resistant and there are still some small hairs, so it is not like I just had it waxed, but it is nothing like it was. Think 85% gone. It does hurt, so you should know that going in. It isn’t unbearable, but depending on your pain threshold could bother you. As a PP said, it works best for black hair on fair skin. Best of Luck.

You need a minimum of 6 sessions, but 8 is best, spaced 6 weeks apart.

Laser hair removal is good IF you can get it like one of these posters 6 sessions for 150. I spent A LOT on 8 sessions for underarms, arms and full brazilian…after the 8 sessions it was great I even had a 2 year free “warranty” to come back and keep getting treatments. Which I took advantage of, of course. Now it has been 3 years later and ALL my hair is back. It is like I never got laser hair removal. I know some companies offer lifetime treatment so if you can find that- go there. Otherwise, IMO it wasn’t worth the money to have all my hair back a few years later. Hope that helps!

@Ailleacht29:  I know technology is getting better every year and each person is different – sorry this didn’t work for you though!

I got my armpits, brazilian, & lower legs done. It worked GREAT for me!!

All the dark hair on my legs was gone after 4 treatments (I had 9 total though) There is still hair in the brazilian area but I would compare it to the fine arm hair I have rather than my FI’s beard hair which is what it looked like before!

My armpits have about 40% of the hair that was there. It doesn’t look bad if I don’t shave and I shave every 2-3 days instead of every day.

I would highly reccomend it! Look into your lasers though – make sure you go to a place with a good laser, I think IPL lasers are bad, they are compared to a flash light The quality and newness of the laser is important! Shop around for deals – in the boston area I got 6 treatments + 6 mo. of touchups for 800!

I am also a great candidate- I have dark hair and vampire white skin 😉
