I got quotes from a couple of different places and ultimately chose a place that only did laser hair removal verses some weird ‘Subway but we also offer laser hair removal’ place.

They explained that the contrast in pigment from skin to hair was ultimately the most important factor, then hormonal balance, and then thickness of the hair.

I did Brazilian and armpits (both dark brown/nearly black) and I’d like to do my legs in the future as the test  area there (medium blonde hair) worked well.

Only regret was that I didn’t do it sooner. The place I went didn’t say 6 treatments. It was X amount for the area, and they’d do as many treatments as necessary along with lifetime touch ups to match hormonal fluctuations. Same price for everyone, service catered to your needs, free lifetime touch ups.

@mrssmithabc:  I’m about 4 years out and I have seen NO regrowth so it’s been worth it for me

I’ve had 5 sessions on my face (PCOS) and I’m an ideal candidate as the hair was dark and my skin was light.  It has been lifechanging for me and I cannot believe I waited until I was 40 to do this for myself.  I chose a clinic that charges a flat fee based on area and it includes lifetime touchups.  What sold me on the clinic is I felt that they actually assessed my hair and skin type to determine if it would actually work, and they also told me that no laser is 100% permanent.  With PCOS you definitely need touchups for the rest of your life, but you will also need touch-ups if you don’t have the condition.  Going with a place that does the touchups as part of the package you buy is that you will always be covered if you have regrowth.  I know your hair is a lighter color, but I believe laser has improved to be able to target different colors of hair.  Seek out a reputable clinic and see what they have to say.

I never tried laser hair removal, but I did electrolysis on my legs because it’s supposed to be permanent, but it wasn’t! I had at least 10 sessions, and the hair still grew back. It grew back slower, but still. I was pissed. $110 per session for supposedly permanent hair removal, and I still have to shave my legs. I guess it’s an improvement, since I don’t get stubble until about 2 weeks after I shave (as opposed to 3 days after shaving before electrolysis). I don’t think it was worth it though. But other people might get better results than I did. For the record, I have fair skin and dark hair, so I should be an ideal candidate.
