I just found a Groupon deal for an awesome medical spa/clinic in a city nearby for laser hair removal – $260ish for 6 treatments. Apparently an $1800 deal!! I REALLY want this. Really. A lot. This would be awesome.
But the problem is that I’m getting married in June, and afterwards moving out of the country… you think there is any possible safe way I could squeeze 6 treatments into this amount of time? I know I know, they are usually 8 weeks apart..but come on, this is such an awesome deal!!!

you won’t be able to squeeze in the treatments. the reason why they are spread out is because hair grows in various cycles.

I figured. 🙁 I was so hoping someone would magically say “of course you can! they’ll just use a different laser!” or something. What if my hair grows at lightning speed, eh?

I had it done at two different locations. One place scheduled me about 6-8 weeks between treatments, and the second place scheduled me every 5 weeks. I must say that although I’m kinda dissapointed in both (as the hair is never really 100% gone). The treatment I got every 5 weeks turned out much much better. June is still cutting it pretty close though.

@leafgum: I was living in Vancouver last year and started laser hair removal through a Groupon but I only had time to go for 2 treatments. Needless to say, I left it too long before I went for my third treatment so I had to start all over again.
I moved to England in September and was checking Groupon every day for a deal but I was very picky because I wanted one that would cover underarms and extended bikini and have good reviews. It is really important you get one with good reviews and try and research the place before hand. I saw lots of deals come up but they would have horrible reviews and on top of that some would sell thousands of groupons and I figured that there wouldn’t be a point in doing that as they would rush it to try and fit in as many clients and it would be IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment. I did the math and it made no sense as they wouldn’t be able to fit in everybody before the deal expired and I thought it would be more hassle than anything else.
I found a clinic with excellent reviews but didn’t have a Groupon. They did have a bridal package which was a great deal on its own of extended bikini and underarms and good hours for appointments (they are open til 8pm which is good cause I work during the day). I started my treatments on February 13th and am leaving for our wedding in Greece on June 30th and they said I would be able to fit in about 3 treatments, mybe 4 (depending on my hair growth). They say to go in for a treatment one week after the new cycle starts. Basically when you get laser hair removal done, you go in with the area shaved. The hair grows as normal but then it dies and falls out about 2 or more weeks after. Some of it falls out (like when you put deodorant on etc) and some you can just pull with your fingers and it comes right out. So after the hair falls out, the new hair will grow back and when you start seeing that growth, you go a week after for your next treatment. They don’t all tell you that as my first laser hair experience in Vancouver they didn’t tell me that, so you could just go in every four weeks but the results may not be as good . So no, you will not be able to fit in all 6 treatments before you leave.
Laser Hair Removal is a lot more affordable now than when it first came out. What you could do is find a clinic where you can do a couple sessions and pay each time (for underarms I have seen $40-75). You do notice results from the very first session. My laser technician told me that you notice the biggest result after your first treatment. Even if you buy the groupon and get a certain amount of treatments out of it it could be better than just paying for 2 individual treatments but check to see how many groupons they have sold because if its hunderds, then it could be hard to get an appointment if you are not flexible. And also I really have to emphasize that you should check reviews on the place beforehand.
Also, if you start the treatments and get 2 or 3 done, then you can get 3 more done when you move to your new location. I think you would just have to find a place that uses the same laser…oh that’s another thing, research the laser that they use as some lasers are better for certain hair types than others (can you tell I’ve really researched the topic of laser hair removal?? haha)
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!
