I’m the whitest white girl in town and it didn’t really even work that well for me. I got it under my arms and while it did decrease the hair and slightly change the texture of it, it wasn’t worth the $500 I spent on the treatments. Just my opinion. I want electrolysis now. 🙂

Yes! It was the best decision I made at the time to combat my annoying upper lip peachfuzz. But in further depth, at first, I was a little nervous at the fact of me spending $135 a session because i Did Not want the money to be a complete and utter waste. But to my surprise the YAG Laser worked really well for me. In total I did about 4 sessions over a 6 month span. Some benefits were that over time the hair became much less noticeable, the hair was much much finer, and the process really assisted with clearing up some hyperpigmentation around my mouth from all the previous hair removal methods I used over the years. The cons were the price(i stopped because budget wouldnt allow it), and the pain was cringing during the process. It felt like they lit a thick rubberband on fire, pulled it back tight, then let it rip ALL over my upper lip lol It wasn’t uncommon for me to shed a tiny tear(or two)but I was happy to bear that swift pain so that I could get the results I so truly wanted. Hopefully everything goes well for you and best of results if you do decide to proceed!

From my research, electrolysis seems to work better for my problem, dark hair showing under skin. It actually kills the hair follicle preventing it from growing back. But it is more expensive and not readily available in my area. Sounds like pinkngoldgirl had success though!  Good luck!

Laser hair removal didn’t work for me. I did it for about a year and it didn’t work. Now ‘m doing electrolysis and the results are very noticeable! My electrologist told me that laser hair removable works best on persons wth light skin and dark hair (which is why it doesn’t work on a lot of AA’s). You should talk with an electrologist. I will however warn you that electrolysis is way more painful than laser. But sooooo worth it. 🙂 Electrolysis is more expensive than laser because generally it takes longer. I pay $40-50 per session (I go about once a month- it depends on how big the area is that is being treated). With laser I paid a flat fee of about $800 for 1 year (going every 6 weeks).

My fiance and I both did laser removal.   I did armpit and bikini.  I am fair skinned, white female, however, I have very coarse curly hair.  I could not be happier with the results.  I am not sure where you are located, however, we went to Ideal Image.  There were 2 other clients who always had an appointment around when we did and left their dermatologist because apparently, most dr.s do not have a strong enough laser, or guarantee it like Ideal Image does.  I always, except for 2 times, had the same technician.  They have several types of lasers, and since you do go to the same person, they really do get to know your skin etc.  My fiance was having some burning issues, they took care of it right away and were wonderful about it.  After the amount of time it is supposed to be done, if you have any regrowth, you go back to get it taken care of.  For life.  No questions.  I would have paid double what I did and I recommend it to everyone.  My BFF recommended it to me, and I am so glad she did.

I am in the process of laser hair removal for my underarms.  I have had 2 treatments and things are looking A-MAZE-ING.  I have no complaints.  There is almost no hair already AND the skin under my arms is looking much lighter and more uniform.  I purchased a groupon as I am too cheap to ever pay full price but it is well worth the $150.  I also hve a girlfriend who had her face and neck done and she has seen wonderful results.

It was an amazing decision. As an AA we need more treatments and need to use a different laser machine so that it can differentiate between our skin and hair (which are both darker in tone)
