I am plagued by horrible cystic acne. I never had acne while growing up, however after my college years; I started getting very bad cysts on my face. I would go to the derm and they would inject me with cortisone shots to reduce the swelling and make it go away. I tried every medication possible ( mins Acutance because it scares me) Because of the injects my cysts are happening more and more frequent and taking much longer to go away. It now can take multiple injects for the cyst to go away. My face is a mess, without make up, I have lots of scaring and tons of redness. I switched Derm’s the other day when I developed 4 cysts, at the apt she informed me that I need to TREAT the acne instead of just keep going the injects because it’s thinning my skin and allowing me to have more break outs. She said I should look into doing the Pulse Dye laser.
Has anyone ever done any kind of face laser treatment, if so which laser treatment, did it work, and how much (which region are you in)?

I am sorry you are having to go through this. My son had really severe acne growing up (all over) and also when he become an adult. We tried everything possible, including dermatologists and their “cures”; to no avail. The best things that we have found to work for him are the Nuetrogena products and also the SkinID products. The Nuetrogena products were doing a wonderful job; however, they just weren’t doing enough, so he switched to the SkinID and it has done wonders for him. While he was growing up, I got to the point where I didn’t think he would ever have clear skin and now he does. It really is amazing.
The one option we never did consider was laser treatment. It was brought up when he was younger, but I was deathly afraid of it, so it never happened. And now that he is grown, he doesn’t need it.

ooooh, i feel for you. i had cysts too – and finally after taking a ton of different antibiotics i went on the dreaded accutane. yes, it sucked (super dry skin, random muscle aches, monthly blood tests, etc) – BUT it was so so so so worth it for me! my skin is super clear now. no more cysts. so, if you decide to bite the bullet and go on accutane, know that it’s not as scary as most people say (at least for me it wasn’t!)
i have no experience with laser treatment but it sounds like something worth researching!

I get cysts, too. I’ve started using Clean & Clear’s acne cleanser, though, and it’s done wonders. My skin isn’t perfect now, but it’s so much better. I’m not embarrassed to go outside without makeup.

Thank you for the suggestions! The Derm said if I’m thinking of getting preggo anytime in the near future I have to stay away from the Acctune, and we would like to start trying in the Spring so that is out for now. I will def try SkinID, I’ve tried most of the other stuff as well. I am still doing my research on the Laser!
