You will be fine bee!  You sound exactly like I did before I got mine done.  I had lasik eye surgery a few years ago and one of the best things I have done.  It is so nice not to worry about contacts/glasses every day, Especially with early morning starts, traveling, sport etc. I just had the typical side effects such as sensitivity to bright lights immediately after, grit feeling in eye and blurry lights at night.  Eventually it all went away.  Goodluck with your procedure and you will be fine.  Best thing to do after your lasik is go home and sleep in a dark room for couple of hours.

I’m so excited for you! I had Lasik last august and it was like a miracle!! It’s so amazing waking up and being able to see, or being able to watch tv in my bed without my glasses. I love that that I don’t have to worry about contacts itching or drying out. I love not having to worry about my glasses sliding off my nose or getting dirty and cleaning them 30 times a day! It’s been absolutely the best investment I’ve made in myself in a long time and I wish I had done it so much sooner! You’re going to be fine and you won’t believe how fast it is! lol! I was shocked. I got a little nervous too but they gave me a Valium and let me sit in this room with a massage chair and I was good to go hahaha!  Best thing ever! So happy for you!

And I agree with PP, go home and take a nap just like they tell you to. Your eyes will heal so much faster. I too had those initial issues but they went away within a week or so. It even took me longer to recover because I have naturally dry eyes to begin with and I had to use special drops for a while, but even so, my vision got better and better everyday and I wasn’t concerned at all. I have no regrets!

Omg I wish I were you and getting Lasik Friday! Contacts are awful, and your eyes always get irritated for some reason or another.

Be excited! You have nothing to worry about, and know that I’m jealous: ) Let us know how it goes and how it feel ditching those contacts.

I am so jealous! All I’ve wanted for the last five years or so is to get Lasik.  I’m a -7.5 so REALLY awful eyesight, but my prescription isn’t stable yet. I will be getting it the second I’m a viable candidate. I was told my prescription would level out when I was around 20…jokes!  Good luck bee, it’s pretty routine nowadays. Know that there are people like me who want it so badly. Give us an update when you’re healed and can SEE!

I was terrified for my lasik surgery, but it went well and I love the results. I told them I was nervous so they gave me Valium which really helped. The only painful part was the clamps on my eyes but it was over really fast.

My center had a window where you could watch others but I didn’t want to see, but everyone was so happy walking out. The best advice I have is use your eye drops!!  I still use drops if I spend a lot of time on my computer.

Good luck!!

I had lasik surgery in 2015 and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done! I also took a Valium right before and would definitely recommend it.

I had LASIK done 4 years ago and it was the best decision of my life! It’s scary but quickly over and then you can start enjoying life without contacts or glasses.

andielle :  It’s not as scary as it seems. My dr gave me Valium 20 minutes beforehand. I couldn’t even feel the clamp things, so they just have numbed my eyes with something. You can’t feel them dealing with the flap at all. Your vision will get blurry, and then it will get better. And then it is over. The actual procedure goes by very quickly!

Man. I was so nervous. To make matters worse, the day of my appointment the A/C went out so we were delayed. When I finally went in for my turn there was a nurse who told me that I could squeeze his hand. I did, and he was super patient with me, talking me through it and telling me what was happening. In 7 minutes, it was over. I went home, took a sleeping pill, and woke up the next morning. When I took the eye covers off and discovered that I could clearly see across the room, I cried. It was the best money I’ve ever spent.

It doesn’t hurt, but it’s mentally uncomfortable because these are your eyes. You will be fine, and afterwards you will be so happy with the results that the nerves are worth it.

Fir what it’s worth, my eyes were worse than yours (-8.0 in one eye and -8.5 in the other. I couldn’t really see anything beyond blobs and colors), and I got lasik almost 14 years ago. I haven’t needed any glasses, contacts, or lasik touch ups.

Good luck, take a deep breath, and follow the doctors instructions for recovery.

I had it done just over a year ago! Absolutely no regrets and I still have perfect vision! They didn’t give me xanax before, but I was fine. My fiance also had LASIK. He was able to see immediately after surgery and for me it took a few hours of resting with my eyes shut. So don’t freak out if your experience is different from what others told you.

If you store your eye drops in the fridge it is nice and soothing on your eyes the first day 👍🏻

You will do great! I had mine done about 7 years ago and was given a Valium before the procedure. They let my mom come in with me and sit by my feet. Your eyes will be so numb you will not feel a thing and it will be over super quick. I had a little pain afterwards but they gave me additional drops to numb my eyes and all the pain went away. A few hours later when my mom drove me home I remember being able to see all of the leaves on the trees and thinking they were so beautiful! lol
