I had LASIK done on 12-23 and cannot say enough good things about it. It was virtually pain free and even afterward was a lot more comfortable than I had anticipated. I am 30 years old and have been wearing glasses and/or contacts since I was 14 so this was a BIG deal, to me and I am SOOO glad I did it. So if any bees are thinking about it, I would highly recommend it! :O)

My Fiance had this done 2 years ago and LOVES it. His vision is better than 20/20 now. He reccomends it to everyone.

Fiance and I so want to get it done, but right now all of our finances are going towards the wedding. We decided tho that as our gifts to each other, we will get LASIK after the wedding! Makes me want to get married that much sooner!

aw, yay!! I really want to get this done at some point but its not in the budget right now. Maybe for my 30th bday 🙂

LOL, I financed it, I won’t lie. I have really good insurance so that helped but yeah, it was a HUGE present to myself. I, too, have better than 20/20 and my vision was SOOOOOOOOOOO bad before it’s odd! I am still adjusting…always reaching for my glasses or waking up in the middle of the night thinking I forgot to take my contacts out…lol

Congratulations… everyone i know LOVES it. And the present of vision is sooo worth not wearing glasses, not worrying about taking out contacts and not paying every year to see the optomotrist… or i think thats how you spell it! haha

I would love to do this someday, but we’re not in a financial position to do it now. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to wake up in the morning and be able to actually see my alarm clock!

I had mine done in September and I LOVE it! I highly recommend it!

I want to do it too. I’ve worn glasses since elementary school. I can’t imagine how freeing (and ultimately cost effective) if would be to have this done.

That’s great! I want to get it done next year. Hopefully we will both be working so that we can afford it though!

My mom had Lasik done and it completely ruined her eyes. She was in so much pain, ended up having to have a surgery to ‘fix’ the first one, and now she needs two sets of glasses – one for close up and one for far away. Her eyes are worse now than before the surgery. Make sure you do your research and weigh the risks carefully!

@toothfairyb: I think that the possibility of side effects are very slight. Unfortunately, any surgery has a possibility of risks though.

I want to so bad, but i’m so scared!!!!

@studentbride- you’ll still need to see your optometrist every year even after you have lasik… even if you no longer need glasses or contacts you still have to make sure your eyes are healthy… especially important after having surgery on your eyes.
ps did you know there are FOUR bee optometrists? 😉

I have realllllllly bad vision- so Im curious what everyone’s starting prescriptions were. Ive had 2 consultations for Lasik, but Im just not ready to dive in yet- Im afraid, like Toothfairyb’s mom, that my vision will be worse after. I already wear 2 pair of glasses and even have to wear glasses over my contacts to read (yes, Im 28 with 3 pair of glasses!!!) I think its great that so many people have good results- but what prescription are you correcting?
