Teeth and hair. For men, I’d add zipper. I also make sure my phone is on silent, not vibrate.

Breath, cell phone, hair.

Dare I ask which of these responses the guy missed? Haha…

Hair, cell phone, hands.

(I tend to sweat when nervous, so I make sure to arrive early enough to visit the restroom and thoroughly wash and dry my hands before I have to start meeting and greeting.  No one likes an icky handshake.)

My pre-interview rituals: I try to get there ~20 minutes early to make sure I have the right place/got there on time.  I spend 10 of those minutes nearby just relaxing – my favorite thing to do is call my 5 year old nephew to destress if it’s a job I really care about and I’m nervous about the interview as a result.  [ETA: I then double-check my phone is off!]  I flip through my notes to refresh my memory on names in particular (and double check I have the name I’m meeting first correct).  I brush my hair & reapply lipstick if needed.  I then head up with 10 minutes to go, check in.  While I wait, I look through their pamphlets if they have any.  If not, I look at my resume/a paper I wrote I have on hand if they want it to refresh my memory and be doing something.

Did he arrive with fly unbuttoned or something?

Ewwww!

I always spit my gum out, check my teeth, nose and any eye makeup smears, make sure everything is buttoned and zipped and I leave the cell/purse in the car.  I carry a leather portfolio with a resume and attach my car key to the inside, leave the other half of my keys in the car, too.

Teeth look good.

Hair looks good.

Don’t have my skirt tucked into my pantyhose….haha nah, I wear dress slacks to interviews, but I do check my outfit to make sure it looks polished and neat.
