@Laurenskii: I don’t know what that is, but you sound happy about it so: YAYYYYYYYY! 😀
@MrsPanda99: hahaha it’s birth control for 3 years thats the size of a matchstick inserted into your upper arm…and it stops most women’s period completely after its inserted.
i have awful periods and Im tired of worrying about a pill everyday so im excited lol
Yay! Good for you! I’m always surprised by how many women choose the pill given all the other options out there.
I’ve been on the Mirena IUD for more than 3 years now and no periods. I totally love it.
That sounds kind of terrifying! But sounds worth it in your case. Chyea!
@cbgg: I think doctors aren’t always the best at explaining other options to people… I found out about nexplanon through a friend and knew it was perfect for me Seeing as how I want to start trying for kids in exactly 3 years
@whoa_its_ash: haha they numb your arm so it won’t be painful but I am nervous
@Laurenskii: I agree. If you don’t educate yourself and ask for what you want I think your doc is unlikely to make suggestions other than the pill.
I had it before and was unfortunately one of the 0.05% of people who have an allergic reaction to it (or at least that’s what doctor said!)
I started reacting really badly to the cold once I had it put in, and would have hives appear all over when it was cold. Then when I had it taken out it all stopped, very wierd.
But this was a couple of years ago, and apparently it’s changed since then so I want to try again as it was great not having periods and not having to worry about it!
Only thing to be aware of if once it’s first put in you can get some pinching feelings whilst the tissues heals tight around it. If you move it very very gently when this happens you will get it to sit comfortably. Hope it works out for you.
@kellym83: that’s awful! And yeah I’m expecting some pain after and hoping I don’t bruise too much! Good luck for when you give it another go!
@Laurenskii: Haha thanks! Mine didn’t bruise barely at all when it was put in. Was sore on and off at intervals for a month or so until it healed up completely under the skin. Doesn’t hurt to get it put in as they use a local anaethetic injection.
Congrats! I have a sister and a close friend with the IUD, and they said it wasn’t bad after the first day, so I hope it works out the same for you!
@Laurenskii: The nexplanon is suuuuch a gret option! I always suggested it to clients! Not to be a killjoy but i like to make sure people are prepared. Be ready to spot. Randomly… maybe all the time. It can take up to a year for periods to disappear if they do (most womens periods do stop). It’ll be so nice not to have to worry about bc everyday!
