This Sunday is 2 months exactly from my due date and I can’t believe it! I feel like there’s still so much to do and we’re totally unprepared (hoping that’s just the way everyone feels before the first kid comes along) but oh well! This baby is on his way 😉
I was talking with the hubs last night about our impending parenthood and how, soon, we’ll never have alone time again. Ha! Anyway, we decided that for our last hurrah it would be nice to go out to a fancy dinner. So he made a reservation for the beginning of December at a Michelin Star restaurant. Neither of us have ever eaten at a Michelin Star place, so this is going to be a special treat and we’re really excited. We were thinking originally of going out of town for a night (somewhere driveable) but this way we won’t be spending as much money and it’s just easier for me since I’ll be 9 months preggers.
So that got me thinking, are any of you other almost-parents doing something special, just the two of you, before baby arrives? A nice dinner? A Baby Moon perhaps? Share your plans and ideas here!

Yum, have an amazing dinner! And the smoothest last 2 more months of pregnancy as possible!
We’re leaving for our babymoon on Saturday 🙂 going to spend 3 weeks in Europe. We actually had the vacation planned long before I got pregnant so it kinda just became a babymoon… but hey I’m not complaining.
I’m a bit anxious about being abroad so long but my OB says it’s the best time to travel (I’m nearing 21 weeks). My next office visit is tomorrow morning so hopefully all looks well.

I am due with #2 in 6 weeks. This time I want to be prepared and have everything ready to go. My son’s room reoganzied and the nursery set up. We are moving furniture this weekend. We were non stop, out of town almost every weekend from mid july through mid october so i’m enjoying these last weeks staying home with not many plans.
With #1, due april (arrived 3 weeks early in march), i didn’t want to get anything ready ahead of time. We took our annual family thankgiving vacation (we went to charleston and savannah that year) when I was around 20 weeks. so i considered that my babymoon so to speak.
in 2 more weeks i’m getting a ME day. i have a facial, pedicure, manicure, and lunch plans set up. Darling Husband is taking our son for the day (he’s 19m) and I said I am not changing any diapers for the entire day. Darling Husband can do EVERYTHING.
enjoy your dinner, sounds delicious! who is the chef if you don’t mind sharing?

We did ours in the summer (I’m due January 10) because we knew how crazy it would be around the holidays! We went away for a long weekend, just the two of us 🙂

We went away for a long weekend up into the mountains. It was really nice, and we celebrated with some yummy meals, but honestly I was so damn uncomfortable it kinda felt silly to leave the comforts of home so late into my pregnancy. I think a really yummy, fancy meal out sounds great.
P.S. Don’t worry about being prepared! Newborns are little blobbies who just want to eat, sleep, and be cuddled. They don’t need much in the beginning! I didn’t even pack a hospital bag until my water was gushing all over the place. Good times.

whitums : “honestly I was so damn uncomfortable it kinda felt silly to leave the comforts of home so late into my pregnancy”
Yeah, that’s why we nixed the out of town trip idea. I’m already uncomfortable and I know it will just get worse!
TheGridMonster : Oh my goodness, that sounds awesome! Where in Europe are you going? Good luck with the flight. When I was around 24 weeks I took a 4 1/2 hour plane ride for a girls’ trip and was so uncomfortable and miserable on the plane. I was also stuck in a middle seat both ways! Ugh! Do you have compression socks?
ajillity81 : It’s Chef Brian Fisher (restaurant is called Entente). I’ve never heard of him but my husband was researching good restaurants and that’s how we came across this one. They actually just received their Michelin Star. So excited!

llevinso : Thanks! Going to France/Greece/Croatia/Montenegro. We made sure I got an aisle seat on every flight because I just know I’ll be getting up to pee every half hour. At least that’ll help to stretch my legs… Compression socks are a good idea! I’ll put them on our growing list of last minute things to pick up. We haven’t even started packing yet so I have a feeling we’ll be doing alot of running around tomorrow…
PS. Just looked up Entente, that looks great! Now I’m hungry for real food and it’s only 10am. *sobs*

I’m due with #2 in 9 weeks and we are going out for a nice dinner in a couple of weeks. We were considering going away for 1 night in December but practicality set in and cancelled that. I don’t really want to be in a snowy resort (read: bad highways) 3 hours away from home at 37 weeks. A local dinner out, childfree, will just have to suffice.

We did a road trip through New England this summer as kind of our last vacation/trip before baby. Now that we’re closer to the date (omg 6 weeks holy shit) we will probabyl try to do a few nice meals out while we can- not that we’ll never get to do or go anywhere again but it will be nice to enjoy it while it’s just us two (although I won’t be able to drink wine, waaaah).

We did a weekend getaway to San Francisco last month, and in December we are going to Vegas! It will be much more difficult to properly visit either of these places once baby is born.

I think we might go to Hawaii when I’m 6 months, but we’ll see how I’m feeling closer to it. A nice dinner sounds really good!

llevinso : We are huge going out to eat fans, so going out for dinner for us was every weekend event. (we still try now too, with twin girls). We went away to drivable distance for a weekend at about 7 mo pregnant, and tried to make it to our friends’ big events all throughout the pregnancy to “socialize” as much as possible.

solnishko1186 : Yeah we don’t go out to eat much really. Mostly just cook at home. So this is an extra special treat 🙂

llevinso : llevinso : that sounds awesome! I am due at the end of March & our office is moving locations between christmas & new years this year so they were talking about being closed that week for the movers. I was planning a few days in San Francisco (it’s a 4-5 hour drive for us) and maybe the hot springs on our way home, but I just heard the moving schedule has been pushed back to Mid-january =( … booooo- but maybe we’ll still be closed for a week & we can get some good quality relaxing time in! It’s also a practicality thing, we don’t have alot of baby stores here (like, none pretty much unless Target counts) so i’d like to be near a store a little closer to our due date for possible last minute things…
