My finace and I are trying to get our plans together for our potential elopment. I am just getting excited about our honeymoon!
After perusing some websites, I’ve seen some amazing last-minute deals to resorts that we, otherwise, wouldn’t be able to afford.
What are your thoughts on booking a last-minute honeymoon? Would you do it? Have you done it? Please share your experiences, cautionary tales, etc!

We didn’t book last minute necessarily, I think we fnalized the flights and hotels about a month – 3 weeks before hand. If we had worked on it earlier, then we might have gotten slightly better deals (we took a flight at an inconvenient time because the others were sold out). But, if you are flexible people I’ve heard of some great deals. There is a website that sells last minute cruises, I don’t remember what it’s called but I imagine it’s on google. I would just be prepared to have a backup plan (local, later etc.) if it doesn’t work out.

I hate the idea because I like to look forward to a trip. Researching what to do and then day dreaming about going on vacation is half the fun for me. On this note, if you book really early, like more than a year out, you usually get the best prices at ressorts. We booked our Sandals honeymoon 9 months in advance and the price was never lower than when we bought it (I checked even a week out). We also paid a bit extra to insure the trip but that was worth it to me as we traveled during hurricane season. Even flights are not their cheapest super last minute. If you get within a month and have nothing booked then you may as well start scouring the deal sites like travelzoo for something last minute.

I booked our honeymoon 1 week prior to the wedding, and it was so worth it! We didn’t do anything super fancy, but you can read about it/see pictures in my honeymoon recap post. We went to Ft. Lauderdale for 3 days, 3 nights and loved every minute of it!

It wasn’t our honeymoon, but Darling Husband and I have done several last minute trips using those kinds of deals– like you said, we were able to visit places we couldn’t otherwise afford, and having that flexibility and spontaneity was absolutely worth it!

We booked our honeymoon in advance, but there is something so romantic and awesome about just going on a trip on a whim. I vote for you to do it!

Fi and I go on a last minute trip each year. It makes going toluxury resorts affordable. We are not doing that for our honeymoon though as we wanted to be able to plan things out better!
