Last minute 'yes' changes to 'no'. How to respond?

@futuremrste:  Honestly, I wouldn’t reply at all. If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. 

It doesn’t seem like you’re able to do anything about it. Your venue sounds a lot like mine (I’m also in Manitoba, too!) and at 3 days out, I know my venue wouldn’t change. It says somewhere on our contract that we pay the amount estimated a week before the wedding or for every guest who attends the day of, whichever is greater. So if they don’t show, we will be stuck paying for them. It sounds like it might be the same sort of deal for you.

If you have an open bar, at least they’ll be saving you money there…
