Is there a relationship between wanting to keep your last name and having it in your primary PERSONAL (i.e. you chose what it would be, not something your work/school randomly assigns you) email account?
Like maybe the same people who don’t care about keeping their name don’t use it in their email either?
email examples (in case you’re confused, because I realize this poll is kind of confusing):
using last name – [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
not using last name – [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

I actually never really thought about my personal email! My email uses my last name. I do plan on changing my last name to FI’s last name, but I probably won’t change my email address for awhile. It’s not a huge deal to me, and making a new email address and updating everything related to it is suchhh a pain!

I actually now have two personal accounts. 🙂 My plan was to close my old one (with my maiden name), but I find it useful to have a “spam” email account. Okay, maybe “spam” is the wrong word, but if I’m signing up for online newsletters, or coupons, or things like that, I give them my old account. Everything “meaningful” has been put in my new account (with my new name!)

right now my email addy is [email protected] and I plan on changing my name to his when we marry. In fact, because i’m weird, I reserved the email addy so that i can be [email protected] so that i don’t have to go by the entire name. My last name now is much more common than his but the white pages online still says there are like.. 13 of “me” in the us!

I’ve already reserved a new email address. It looks completely bizarre to me though. But my current name combination is a lot more common than the new one, so I’m not that hurt.
I’ll probably just redirect my old email to the new one without making a grand gesture about it.

My personal e-mail contains my last name. I’ve thought about getting a new e-mail post-wedding, but so many people know that e-mail address that I don’t wanna go through the hassle of changing it.

My personal email has my last name, and I switched accounts as soon as we were married. (Like I think I sent out a notice of my new email address the day after we got back from our honeymoon.

I use my first initial, middle initial, last name so I already went ahead and grabbed my new email with my new last name even though I’m not married for another 7 months.

I hadn’t even thought of reserving my new email. My email now is myfirstmiddleinitialmylast so I guess I need to figure out what I want now, haha.

I plan on changing my email to include my new last name. I’ll still check my old email and use it for shoppin gand stuff, but I’m looking forward to a new email that isn’t on mailing lists all over the place!

My old email was [email protected] and now it’s [email protected]. I couldn’t get my first initial and new last name because the name is more common. I use my email for everything. I don’t get a lot of spam but even if I do, gmail does a good job of filtering it out.

I’m like august15bride-I use my old email (with just my first name) as my “deals & coupons” email. My new personal email that I use for friends and family has my new last name. But while I’m in the process of switching everything over, I have my email forwarded from my old account to my new account.
