We are trying for baby #2, I used OPK’s this month (that’s how I successfully conceived the first time) and I also started tracking my bbt.
I got my first positive OPK on 8/3 with peak surge on 8/4 (cd 19). I was cramping on 8/4 as well. My temp rose on 8/6 so I believe I O’d the afternoon of 8/4 or potentially 8/5 taking temp into consideration.
Based on this, I wasn’t expecting AF to come (if she was coming) until around Tuesday of this week. My cycle has been anywhere from 29-32 days (one 35) since getting them back in January after having my first baby last July 2018.
Well on Wednesday afternoon I went to the bathroom and was bleeding, similar to a light flow. So I thought I was out because I bled heavy Thursday and was cramping severely and having lower back pain. Friday it was more of a normal flow, but Saturday I didn’t bleed at all until about 7pm I had bad cramp and low back pain again and noticed a few tiny drops in my liner and when I wiped there was some more blood (sorry for tmi photo). That was it for Sat.
Today I have cramped some off and on in my back as well but only some brown spotting when I wipe. My periods never last 2.5 days, they’re always 5-7. I’ve also never experienced cramping or the low back pain this long with my periods. My temps also dropped for 2-3 days and on Friday went back up and today was at 97.9 (I forgot to temp Sat. morning, my low temps have been consistent at 97.2 and on Friday it went back up to 97.6 – I was 97.6 to 98 after I O’d). I’ll temp again tomorrow to see where I’m at. I did take a cheapie HPT yesterday but it was negative.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? I’m so confused as to what’s happening.

It could just be a weird period. Have you changed anything that might impact hormones, like weaning from breastfeeding? My first period postpartum (my son is June 2018 so similar to you!) happened a few weeks after I went back to work at 9 months, when my son cut down from 4x to 2x daily nursing. It was 5 days of spotting and lots of cramping (usually have none). He fully weaned last cycle, and I ended up having another lighter period with more cramping (still like 10 days total spotting but never got as heavy as usual).
Even if you can’t think of anything specific, at a year post partum I think lots of people are still pretty erratic.
Your estimated ovulation would put you at 13-14dpo? It is possible that a cheap test would still be negative. At 13dpo my frer was still pretty faint.

Bee I’ve edited your post to include a graphic image warning, please include that next time 🙂

Honestly, I would just chalk it up to AF. Are you nursing? How long ago did you get your cycle back? Cycles can be weird postpartum for awhile, and you are only about a year postpartum, so it isn’t surprising that you had a short LP. Have you been tracking ovulation prior to this cycle?

Thank you, I didn’t even think about it. We did just stop our only nursing session last week. I didn’t even think about that having an effect on it since this is my 8th period since getting them back and they have been pretty regular, partciluary in how lng they last. I bet that is definitely it though!

So sorry, thank you!
We did just drop our last mursing session so I bet that’s it. I’ve had my cycle back for 8 months now so when it was only 2.5 days that really through me for a loop because they’ve always lasted longer. This was the first month I tracked since we just started trying, but I’ll keep doing OPK’s and temping along with CM. Thanks for your input!
