- Wedding: November 2013
I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve been too busy with school, but I’m starting to do all of my wedding planning and right now I’m running into problems.
Fiance and I are having a private family only ceremony at a botannical garden with around 30 people and then having a larger reception for all of our friends and family that evening. The original plan was to book the garden from 1:30-2:30 which would allow plenty of time for photos and for us to set up the reception hall before guests started arriving at 5:00-8:00, the problem is that the garden will only book us from 11:30-12:30. I’ve called and left the wedding dept a VM to see if there’s any way we can push it later, even in the afternoon because they only have 2 other weddings that day that are in a chapel not even in the garden area, which is where we’ll be but if they don’t how should I deal with my reception?
We haven’t set a time down with our reception venue yet but I feel like 3:00-6:00 is really early (especially for drinking) and 4:00-7:00 is right in the middle of dinner. Should I keep the reception time at 5:00-8:00 and tell my family to enjoy walking around the gardens in the fall? I feel like they’re my close famiy so they will be more willing to understand than say my coworker or friend from high-school. Even under my original plan there would be a few hour gap between the reception and ceremony to allow people to change clothes if they wanted and to eat lunch etc but is 4 1/2 hours too much? Any opinions will be much appreciated!
