OMG NO haha. I have my cousin watching my aunt like a hawk to make sure she doesn’t buy them. I had to do this at my quince and stabbed like half my guests accidentally. Idk outside of my own dislike for capias I think people from other ethnic backgrounds usually get a kick out of participating in something new.

Can you explain this tradition?  I’m not Latino, but I love traditions.  I think it’s really special that you want to carry something on!

No, we are not incorporating that into our wedding.  However, I definitely think that it is something you should consider, since it is done in your family parties.  Don’t stop the tradition just because others aren’t doing it… Always try to keep as much of your culture in important events, like your wedding.  I am sure that your fiance won’t mind… it means so much to you. (TRADITION) Smile

Hope this helps!  Buena suerte @Brenda_L!

@Brenda_L: If how his family would feel about them is your only reservation I would do them. Its a good conversation starter.

those are for baby showers but my family does the same thing for weddings, using wedding figurines and such….

i’m like no please….i want something different, not traditional….

but i think i might do capias….them, i don’t mind so much i think…tho i would still do them a bit more modern than traditional….

I am not doing capias, I actually don’t like them at all and hate it when they try to pin them on me.  But if you do decide to do it, I’d suggest that for the bridal shower but not for the actual wedding.  Many people don’t want anything pinned to their dress (or jacket for men) esp. after paying so much money for it.

I’m actually torn on the issue as well. On the one hand it’s a very antiquated tradition, on the other and it is definitely one of the best ways to persoally greet each and every guest.  I want to keep things at my wedding as modern and elegant as possible but I also feel like this would be a very personal way to spend time with the guest and maybe some photo ops.  To be honest at first I was completely against them but the more I think about it the more I’m getting to like the idea.  I guess I’ll wait until a few months before and if I have the money to spare I will do them.

What about…. instead of pinning the capias just handing it to them? I know it might not be the same but this might keep from blood being spilled and would allow you to still have time with each guest.
