Last night all I wanted was to have sex with my own husband – not because I’m ovulating or any other TTC reason, but I just wanted to. And I couldn’t. Because he has to save it up for another semen analysis tomorrow. That’s right – we can’t have sex for two days because we’re trying to get pregnant. The ridiculousness of being abstinent in order to get pregnant sent me into a laughing fit, which I guess is better than crying! Someone please tell me I’m not alone and/or crazy!

happy2bee : we’ve been told that IVF is basically our only hope so we ARE back to having sex for fun while we wait to start the next step in our treatment. But DH still has to have SAs to determine if his various treatments are working so our window to have sex without interferring with his testing is short. Harumph.
I hope you get your fun sex soon!

LilliV : We only did meds and TI in June and took this month off so DH could do his SA. I’m not sure what we’re going to do next cycle but I know I am ready for IUI. I’m just so over the TI! We have a busy August so I’m thinking we will wait until September or October for IUI.

HaaaveYouMetTed : I don’t understand the doctors that put the woman on meds without testing the man first – if he has an issue the meds might be pointless! I hope for your sake he doesn’t, but still better to check it all out and then start treatment. My RE wouldn’t even talk potential treatments until he ran a whole battery of tests on BOTH of us.
I hope you get to do your IUI soon! I was super nervous about it because I had a horrible HSG experience, but it was just like a slightly more uncomfortable pap smear.

LilliV : I know! I wasn’t fond of starting stims without testing him first. Our RE was adamant that since DH has gotten me pregnant twice before, he’s probably not the problem. When our first medicated cycle was a bust, we decided we didn’t want to continue without testing DH. His results came back great for motility and number of sperm (can’t remember what that’s called), but morph is 2%. They said they are not concerned about morph at all since he has a TON of sperm (like 325M I think it was). So why the F am I not pregnant?!?!

HaaaveYouMetTed : That is so frustrating, but it makes a lot more sense as to why they might have skipped testing to start. I’ve never been pregnant and DH has never made anyone else pregnant so we were completely in the dark as to what might be going on. I’m with you and ready to get this show on the road. The only
minor silver lining is that if I’m at my job for 2 full years (meaning I conceive in September of this year or later) I’ll get 8 weeks fully paid by my firm, otherwise it’s short term disability and unpaid time. I know would be a big deal to some people, but we’ve been hoarding money and benefit time in preparation anyways so I’d give up the paid maternity leave to just get pregnant already.

HAHA! Here’s another crazy for you. We hadn’t had sex in probably 1 or 2 weeks and I told my husband about 3 days before our retreival that we need to have sex so that we get some “fresh ones” to use on retrieval day. And he’s been so tired from working 60+ hr weeks that he told me he jsut doesnt have the energy, so I tell him to go whack one out then.. and I dont care how he does it.. but I want fresh ones. He’s tryign to tell me that it doesnt matter and he doesnt want to.. and I’m like fifteen. thousand. dollars. on the line, I want fresh swimmers!!!!
