I know I sound like a total moron, but apparently I don’t know how to dress myself. Lately I have really been liking the sweater over a button-down look (I recently found this blog that has inspired me to dress more feminine and fashionable http://hello-gorgeous-blog.blogspot.com/p/threads.html )
BUT whenever I try to actually do this, I feel like I’m stretching out my sweaters, I look gigantic, and my shirt is clearly bunched up under my sweater. HOW do people do this and have it look good?
Any suggestions? I feel like such a fashion idiot lol
(btw i had no idea where to put this post, so mods feel free to move it to a more relevant board if there is one!)

Your dress shirts may be too loose or too thick for this. Look for a form fitting one with a decent amount of stretch, or one with a thinner fabric (most of her shirts look either sheer or are made of a thin fabric, so they won’t make bunches under the sweater). Also, the sweaters have to be decently loose before you put a shirt on under them. Look for ones with sleeves that aren’t tight.
If you post a picture of your attempt it will be easier to advise you!!

The gigantic issue I think is just the fabric you are using. Try and find a dress shirt with a thinner fabric. Once you do that, put a tanktop between your dress shirt and your sweater. This will smooth out any wrinkles, bumps, buttons, ect that muck up the look you are going for.
Hope this helps!

I used to always look SO puffy and fat when I tried this. Like@MeiFrancis: said, you have to get a more form fitting button down. I ended up buying a few that were much tighter than I would ever wear to work, but they work perfectly for this look.

@MeiFrancis: thank you for your advice! I didn’t take a picture of the disaster but rather I tore the outfit off as fast as possible so that nobody would see, haha!
@MissComicBook: that tank top idea is genius! thank you!
@adoc86: where did you find tighter dress shirts? This is probably the biggest issue i’ve been having!
