So I wont ask if this is “tacky” because I don’t like that term at all but I am asking for opinions.
We are about to send out invites in about 3 days. Yay 🙂 On the invites it does say that it will be a casual wedding with casual attire.
We are inviting about 120 people. Because of some unforseen circumstances the wedding and reception have been moved to an outdoor location.
It’s on a private property. You enter at a brick fence that says “Grove farms” and go down this long private dirt road lines with ezalias, magnolia trees and many other flowers. It loops around and opens up in a space by the house that’s pretty large. There are two magnolia trees, a few ezalia bushes and water on the other side of the clearing. Opens up to a large river. Trees and flowers everywhere. To the right of the opening is a magnolia tree with a wooden bench swing. We will set up the arch (dark green with white Christmas lights strung all over it) and chairs and decoration for the ceremony by the swing. We will have 9 large tables to the left near the food which is cavered with an already built bar.
We will hang mason jars with tea candles inside the jars on the magnolia trees. The center of the tables will have crystal like bowls with fresh flowers floating on them. We will have heavy southern appetizers, a live band (which my fiance plays in and will play a few songs including singing to me) beer, wine, punch, sweet tea, unsweet tea, lemonade and water for drinks. Also champagne for the toast.
We will be giving koozies as a favor in our wedding color with our state logo and our date on them. We will also have all sorts of bug wipes and comfort items in a basket.
Unfortunately there is not enough room without putting right in the middle of the reception space for a restroom trailer and quite frankly, they are way out of our budget. We would try to make it work but with the trees, they wouldn’t be able to pull it in in the location for the rest rooms so the biggest worry is that we are having port o potties on the other side of the magnolia tree. We will of course put up a full length mirror outside of the potty with tables that have baskets on this which includes sanitizer, body spray, floss, gum, refreshment items. We are also going to try to set up (somehow) a washing station with a sink and some soap
We also have what used to be a garden that is surrounded by a 4 foot tall picket fence. It’s not overly huge but it’s big enough to fit the toddler and younger children in so the parents don’t have to worry about their children running into the water. We will have someone go in the fence (we are cleaning it out) to watch and play with the young kids.
We are also having the game corn hole set up to give the guests something to do for entertainment.
Our wedding is at 3, our reception 4-7pm.
I think that covers the basics. So does this sound totally terrible or does it seem like it will work? Our wedding will be in a small town in the country and we are southerners and love living in the south so we wanted to keep it southern (although I believe cornhole is a northern game originally?). So opinions, ideas? Anything?
