I have drafted up the layout for our venue and need some opinions. After dinner I was thinking of taking the two middle-back tables out the catering door and slide two middle-front tables back, incorporate the chairs into the other tables and turn the middle into a dance floor. There’s enough room up front for the look-at-us dances, but when the party starts going we’ll need the space. I know most of our guests won’t care, and those who might will not be placed at those tables…but how would you feel? Do you think the room is flowing okay?

I like your idea to free up more space for the dancing, but are you going to have assigned seats? If so wouldn’t it be weird for the guests if their table was no longer there? I guess if you can make sure that the people you assign to those tables are okay with moving their seat after eating, then that is fine. I personally wouldn’t care as a guest at all.

I plan on keeping their chairs in the room, just moving the tables. We will have assigned tables but not seats, and I’ll definitely make sure the people who I sit at those tables know that they’ll have to move after dinner.

I should say that each table will only have eight people, so once place settings are cleared there will be plenty of room at each table to accomodate an extra body or two. Plus once dinner is over people don’t really stay attached to the seat unless their having a bad time, right?!

I think it’s okay to remove tables if you let the guests now… Probably best to pick tables of people that will probably be on the dancefloor or at the bar and wouldn’t be at their table anyhow!
