Been discussed for years, but we only recently got engaged. He’ll be crossing an ocean and moving here! It was going to be the other way around because I love England, but that economy is in the toilet…

@Lauren8712:  Yeah, it can get pretty rough sometimes… All worth it, though! An hour and a half is still a ways away, though, and I’m sure that can be very frustrating at times.

And thanks! Congrats to you, too!

Even though I have a better job/living arrangements (FI lives at home), I will be moving a few weeks after we get married. The reason for this is that FI is in school, and his school is much much cheaper than anything here. I will be moving from Chicago to South Bend, IN and commuting via train. I’m not gonna lie, I’m not happy about it, but we all have to do things for love.

I was long distance for 4 years (only an hour and a half too, though) and I ended up moving by him because I got another job that worked out.  It was at a standstill for the longest time, though!

I’m moving to him. I am on a long term contract (2 years, no guarantee that they are renewing) and he has fairly stable employment. He lives in a small town and I live in a city, so I expect it will be a huge adjustment for me. I’m not moving until after the wedding…probably August, as I’ll have to wrap up my contract.

We have been together for almost 6 years, all of them long distance. We live 4 hours apart.

@bellaluna290:  hey!  South Shore Line?  I posted 14 seconds after you and that’s pretty much the same situation with me except I’m in Chesterton now (about halfway along the line).  Ha, small world.

I’m moving to him. He’s living in San Jose now for an internship that’s likely going to turn into a job (or he’ll get hired to another company in the area). There’s really nothing for me here and I want to spread my wings, so it was an easy choice. I’d go just about anywhere for him, though.

My husband and I are ex LDR.

I moved to him. He is stationed in Oklahoma at the AFB there and he couldn’t come to me (Even though I live in our home area, I live 2 towns away from where he was raised) so, I uprooted and went 1,200 miles to him. California to Oklahoma.

@Lauren8712:  It is getting pretty exciting. I don’t think I’ve fully comprehended yet that its for real and that we will get to spend time every day with each other. This was actually a terrible weekend for me as I was so sad and missing him like crazy. It doesn’t get easier even after 6 years!!!

How long have you guys been doing the LDR?

We’re both moving somewhere new. My fiance is in the army and he’s getting transferred to a new post two months after the wedding. I’m going to stay with my parents until he’s at his new post (wherever that may be) at which point I’ll move there.

@elysion:  Yes ma’am!! We’ve been LDR for our entire (almost 7 years) relationship, but I’ve lived in Chicago for about 4 years.
