That’s a touch situation.  SO and I have kind of been there.  We were in a SDR last summer (an hour and a half away, so we saw each other every weekend), lived together last fall, went back to the SDR this spring, have a LDR this summer (12 hours away), and will go back to the SDR in the fall.  We may not have had a “true” LDR, but I definitely feel for you!  The way we’ve coped is by communicating frequently, talking every day, skyping at least twice a week.  It is definitely harder to go back to a LDR after you’ve lived together, but at least you know there’s an end in sight.  Try not to fight about the small stuff and you’ll be okay.  (:

@Angkinah:  Ugh, I’m there with you on the stupid arguments.  The first six weeks of our summer apart were really rough.  We spent a weekend together, had a really difficult conversation, and discussed the problems we were having.  It’s been over a week since we’ve had that conversation and we haven’t had a fight yet, which is nice because before our LDR I could count on one hand the number of times we argued.  It’ll be okay, it just really sucks.  You just have to make sure you’re making time for each other and your expectations match up with one another.

I like to think of every day as a victory.  That means it’s one less day until we’re together again.

I feel for you on this a lot. My SO and I basically lived together for two years since we lived in the same dormitory, and it’s been almost two years since then, during which we’ve been in a LDR.

It’s so hard to start so close and then having to learn how to not have your SO in your life every day.

My best advice is to keep yourself busy. Not overwhelmingly so, but it does take the edge off–at least for me–knowing I have a task I need to complete. Even if it’s just like,’I need to bake this friend a birthday cake’ or ‘I want to finally watch that tv show’. Enrich yourself, learn a new skill or pick up some books.
