1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug?

I don’t think this even happened to me! Well I can’t remember anything about it anyway!

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke?

At the hospital in advanced labour… The midwife had to break it for me.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?

No idea, probably a few hrs.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time?

The day before! Wish he had waited 12 hrs later! My fiancé was on a flight over during the birth but got here at 10pm the day he was born!

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?

Probably the satisfaction that came with trusting my body to do its job. I don’t ever remember being scared except when I pushed him out in like 2 pushes. Was terrified of tearing. But luckily it didn’t happen!

1. I lost it in early labor, about 20 hours before getting into active labor.

2. At the hospital

3. My water broke AS I pushed Dirty Delete out

4. I was 41 weeks 4 days when I went into labor

5. Hmmmm the whole experience was absolutely amazing but if I had to pick a single part I’d  probably pick the fact that the second I had her I felt rested, awake, & oddly calm since I had had an unmedicated birth (you can read my birth story to get a better idea of how it all went)

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug?

I didn’t lose it before I went to the hospital. I went in when my contractions were about 4 mins apart.

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke?

My water was broke by the midwife when I was around 4 cm.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?

About 4.5 hours. My water was broke for me right after my epidural and after that my labor really started to progress.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time?

5 days late according to the due date from my doctor. I was charting and knew when I concieved and ovulated so I also calculated my due date from TCOYF and according to that he was right on time!

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?

The feeling and I love I felt when I heard his first cry and they put him on my chest. It is the most amazing and indescriable feeling that makes all that labor so worth it!

Best of luck with your own delievery!!!

Dirty Delete:

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug?  The morning I went into labor, I lost my mucus plug.

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke? I was driving back to work after picking up lunch from a local restaurant for a lunch meeting.  It wasn’t that big of a deal; I was wearing a pad, which soaked up the majority of the liquid.  It was a slow leak, at first, so it wasn’t much more than a regular period flow.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?  about 9 hours.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time?  exactly 1 week early.

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?  Hearing the doctor announce that Dirty Delete was a girl was incredible.  We were Team Green, and when the doctor said, “It’s a girl,”  I looked at my husband and said, “We have a daughter,” and we both burst into tears.  They laid her on my chest immediately afterward, and it was so incredible.

DS:

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug?  A couple weeks.

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke? My water didn’t break until I was about 6 cms along, right after I got the epidural in the hospital.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?  about 4 hours.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time? exactly 1 week early.

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?  The moment my husband announced that DS was a boy (we were Team Green again)!  I told my husband “I don’t think I can do this, ” and then I gave one final push and out he came!  It was so amazing to hear my husband announce that DS was a boy and realize that I had a son!

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug? I’m not sure when this happened at all. It was very gradual for me.

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke? It didn’t gush or break suddenly. For me it was a little leakage every now and then. I think the baby’s head was holding it in from all gushing out at once, or it didn’t fully break all at one go.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth? A long time. I started noticing the water leaking Thursday evening. The baby was born Saturday morning.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time? Early! Started feeling the contractions 5 days before due date. The baby finally came (csection) 3 days early.

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth? The first time holding my son.

I’ve had three babies and although similiar each story was different.

-With my first child, I don’t remember a mucous plug. The day before I gave birth I walked about a mile uphill.. I think that helped send me into labor! I could’ve prepared a little more for the pain! They had to break my water bag at the hospital and he was born a few hours later.

-Second child, I kinda knew what to expect. Mucous plug went the day before. When the contractions started I walked up and down our long driveway until we left for the hospital. Water broke there, it was a crazy feeling, contractions came on harder, baby was born in 1/2 hr.

-With my third child, it was if I couldn’t wait for the pain! I knew I could do it! I was even doing a little kickboxing during my contractions. When we got to the hospital, we had to wait for a room and I was at 9 cm by the time they checked me. They did have to break my water tho.  I had to wait to push because we were waiting for the doctor! He was also born pretty quickly after.

I had all three children without pain medication and I would not have had it any other way! Its an incredible experience. I felt like I couldn’t handle it at times, but I knew the pain wouldn’t last forever. I think I’m pretty lucky. Its a miracle to think that this human came from your body.

Sorry for the novel. Good luck and best wishes!

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug?
If I did, I never noticed

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke? It broke on it’s own at the hospital when I was WELL into big labor. I think only like 10% of women’s water will break spontaneously before contractions starts (?)

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?
6ish hours

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time?
10 days late

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?

Just seeing when she was lifted up for the first time, hearing her cry loudly

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucous (sp?) plug?

I lost it in the early in the morning on the day I went into labor. I woke up in the middle of the night with a weird sensation and had a gush when I went to the bathroom.

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke?

I thought it broke at my house but when I got to the hospital, I found out that I really had only lost my mucous plug. It ended up breaking on its own about 2 hours after I was admitted.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?

10 hours. I pushed for about 2 hours and then had to have a c-section.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time?

I was 10 days late (first baby). A lot of my friends/family were also late with their first so I say go to the movies, out to eat- whatever you want to do before the baby comes! You won’t get the opportunity to do those things for a while and the odds of your water breaking in public are so slim. If it does happen- who cares! It’s a good story :).

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?

It was probably when I heard him cry the first time after he was delivered. I was so anxious about him being healthy and once I heard that and saw he was fine it was such a relief.

Good luck! I’m almost 38 weeks also! But this is my second.

1. How far in advance did you lose you mucus plug?

I lost it 12 hours before I delivered.

2. Where were you or what were you doing when your water broke?

It happened when I woke up and got out of bed, just the action of trying to get up made it happen.

3. What was the time duration from when your water broke till you gave birth?

6:30am-2:30pm. So 8 hours but 3 hours of that was pushing.

4. With regards to your due date: Did you give birth early, late or right on time?

On my due date!

5. What was your best experience/memory from giving birth?

The entire process was so exciting! Even though parts of it were uncomfortable, I couldn’t wait to meet my little guy. After everyone had visited and it was just the 3 of us that night–I felt so incredibly happy. It’s hard to describe one part of the whole experience that was the best.
