My boyfriend proposed to me last month on Leap Day :]!
Quick summary of our relationship that will probably be elaborated upon in the near future:
- We’ve been long distance for a little over three years(the entirety of the relationship).
- We met playing Minecraft.
- He’s from Canada and I’m from the US.
- I’m 23 and he’s 21.
- His parents don’t approve of our relationship for religious reasons but we aren’t letting that ruin our joy.
Our proposal was sweet and so us. It was the perfect mixture of “grand gesture” and “lowkey” in the sense that he had a very definite plan, treated me like a princess all day (he always does that though!) and definitely wanted to make the day special…but at the same time he didn’t do anything crazy expensive, or that would awkwardly put me on the spot (we’re both a bit socially anxious). It was private and beautiful. He took me to the noodle place where we had our first date, and we reminisced about that date and had a lot of laughs over it, and then we went to this beautiful ice rink. The ice rink was the coolest thing ever. I’d show you a picture of it in all of it’s rainbow glory, but unfortunately most of the pictures from that night are on his phone not mine. He’s currently on a train back home for the next day with his phone deactivated while he’s out of the country….so I’ll share those pictures soon :]. We ice skated for about an hour and had a super fun time skating to love ballads from the 80s and 90s(my kinda jams right there). Afterwards I thought we were going home, but he drove past our turn and said “Let’s end this night at the beach.” This is not unusual for us at all, so I didn’t think anything of it. We often grab some food and just watch the water while we eat at the beach near my house. So I suggested we get some fries and head over there. It was so chilly that night and even in my warm sweater I was shivering like crazy so he gave me his matching sweater to put over my legs like a blanket. We were eating our food and he pulls out a notecard and said he wrote me a speech for this “love day” we were having. What he said was very personal to us and I cried like a baby. He didn’t propose right there and we kept eating our fries. When we were finished he pulled out the ring box, got on one knee and just very simply asked me to marry him. To which I instinctively said “Ya ok” in a nonchalant voice because that’s our sort of humor…and we’ve known for the past three years we were heading towards marriage. We were pretty much already engaged just not officially/with a ring. But then the waterworks started again and we just hugged and kissed and shivered next to the beautiful water. Here’s a picture of us at the ice rink that day. Sorry if it’s way too huge! I’ll fix it if I need to.
And here’s my beautiful ring. Heart shaped morganite center stone. Two CZs and celtic knots :]. I love it so much. So unique and everyone says it’s “so me”. It really is. I’m a pink/heart shaped kinda gal. As you may see from my pink heart glasses lol.
Size 4 but I think I may need to go down to a 3.5-3.75. I can’t stop looking at it!
