I could have written your post. I am spending the summer in Guatemala and SO is visiting me. None of that is cheap. He also just got a new job and is starting next Monday. I love that he wants us to be in a good place and start our life togethse with more security, but I am just so ready to tell the world that we’re in love anwhere’re getting married. The word girlfriend just depresses me by now.

Yeah, i know what you mean, my SO was supposed to have enough saved by march for a ring, he let me shed some papers and I went through each paper to make sure I wasnt shedding anything important and I saw what was in the savings account, he spent it ALL….talk about a huge let down, now hes telling me that he put a lot of it back but I mean come on, if you wanted this that bad you wouldnt have touched that cash…Hes telling me he wants it more than anything but Im a bit skeptic now…if it doesnt happen this year im not wasting more time cause that was a huge slap in the face.

I’m probably the least patient person I know. I have never had to depend on anyone for anything and whenever I want something (material or not), I always just go for it. My guy has been dangling the engagement carrot in front of my face for a year now and it has been extremely difficult for me!

Orchid, I’m the same. Everything I’ve really wanted, I’ve gotten. Granted, I’ve never wanted a diamond and a life long committment before. But, I wanted a degree, I got one from my first choice school. I wanted to intern in Guatemala, and I’m doing it. I’m not used to having something I want so much being so out of my control.

@mousiegirl:  me too! I plan every detail of trips and am already starting to plan the wedding in my head. I can’t help it! But I guess when we’re married, having 2 people involved in all my decisions will be a fact of life. It won’t be the Lauren show anymore

@Laurenplusalex:  I’m so with you on “gf” being depressing -_- and on enjoying being in control of your life and desires.

Yeah, girlfriend just seems too casual for what we have. I was his girlfriend after a week, shouldn’t I be something more now? Oh well, we discussed timeline today, and there is an end in sight
