I have a 14 week old baby girl and had to come back to work 2 weeks ago. Right now I work 9 hours (7 am – 4:30 pm) and get a Monday off every other week. I miss my baby so much and I am considering working 8 hr days and be able to leave the office by 3:30 pm or even earlier if I am able to get in very early in the morning.
I can’t decide…I do love my day off but miss her so much the last hour at work just drags.
Help me decide 🙂

That’s a tough one. Leaving work early is convenient; you’d get home faster (cause of traffic) & probably be able to get stuff around the house done before your SO gets home. On the other hand, having a full day is great because you can book appointments on that day & run errands!
How much time would you save getting home if you left an hour earlier? How much would you save off 1 day of daycare every other week vs 1hr everyday? Do you guys have a lot of errands & appointments (baby?!)?

I would pick 1 full day off. That’s what I’m hopefully doing when I return to work in September. Actually using up vacation hours so I get 1 full day off a week to spend with my little boy.

I feel you would definitely benefit more by having the day off. It saves on wasted travel time. Its really hard to find a balance when you work. Goodluck and enjoy your precious child:)

I voted for the full day off… but it really depends on traffic. Some places leaving early would cause more traffic and still force you to deal with the weekly horrific friday afternoon traffic. By staying later you could miss traffic and skip the bad traffic day. OR the opposite could be true. Idk what your traffic is like.

I would go for one whole day. You will be able to enjoy the baby so much more having that day off than just an extra hour at the end of a busy day. And also you can plan things once the baby gets older and every Monday can be your time together.
