So Fiance and I have been exploring Honeymoon options, flight time etc. We narrowed our options down to Fiji, Rarotonga and New Caledonia. It’s looking like Fiji is going to be what we choose but the only flight the next day leaves at 7am! I know all the wedding experts usually advise against leaving really early the next day but I think we’re just going to have to do it. Anyway, anyone else had to do this? What advice can you give for being prepared to leave that early the next day?

Could you take a day to decompress and then leave the day after that?

1. DON’T DO IT.
2. You’re going to do it anyway so….make sure you have a day-of coordinator to clean the place up (I know mine and her assistant will do clean-up.)
3. Make sure your card box is in your possession before your night is over (get cash out if you can.)
4. Don’t go to sleep. Try to stay up and just sleep on the plane.

My best advice is to take a few days at home to rest. Our wedding was Saturday and we left early Monday morning for our honeymoon and the first 3-4 days we were in bed sleeping by 8 pm. Not even a joke. We were so exhausted. While it was nice to sleep and relax, we wish we had spent a few days at home doing that so we could have really enjoyed everything the island had to offer while we were there.

I tend to agree with PP. We stayed at a hotel adjacent to our venue our wedding night and we were exhausted (we go there by 11:30 or so). I didn’t even want to get up the next day and it was a pain making sure I got everything from my dress to shoes to toiletries.
Truthfully, if I had that early of a flight and had an evening wedding, I wouldn’t bother actually going to bed. I would go home, decompress/wash up, and just stay up until it’s time to go to the airport. Then I would nap at the airport and in the plane. Your first day there (maybe half day) will be probably spent sleeping but at least it’s in paradise!
I agree with PP that said to make sure you take care of your card box or at least know who has it. Our parents took care of it for us but either way, make sure someone extremely trustworthy has it.

Have you ever been for dinner on a Sunday evening and got up for work or an early commitment the next Monday morning? Its not so bad.
If that’s where you really want to go, don’t let an early flight time stop you! 🙂

We did it. Our wedding ended at 10:00 PM on 3/23, we said goodbyes to our parents/siblings, and took our party bus to the airport hotel at around 11:30. Checked into the hotel around midnight, and had to wake up at 4:00 AM for our 5:45 AM flight to Orlando to catch our cruise.
Was it brutal? Nah. We slept on the flight. And the cruise only ran Sun-Sun, and we didn’t want to go back to work for a week and then leave.
