If he wants to follow you, he’s free to do so.  And he can find himself a job and apartment.  He doesn’t “have” to live with you.  I think you would be wise to hold your ground on that one.  Moving in with you out of convenience?  Ugh.


It is hard to let a good one go, but you’re so not on the same page.  You never know what your absence may trigger, tho.

You are such a rockstar. I had a similar situation at 23. I had to leave for an apprenticeship across the country and wasn’t sure when I’d be back. We knew we couldn’t handle long distance so we broke up and it was really hard especially after 2.5 years together. I too had been given a speech about someday but we knew that didn’t mean now. Flash forward to a little over a year later, I came home to visit my family due to a serious illness for a couple months. We got back together and it was like dating a new person (in an amazing way) less than two months later he returned from Europe with a ring a proposed. Even if you two don’t get back together, the amount of growth and experience that you’d gain from time apart to explore is an incredible gift. Best of luck in your school search!
