clovesa2015 :  Oof this is why I bring my own refillable pouch of chemical wipes to the gym with me. This way I’m not leaving my phone or anything alone since I don’t use a locker.

My city has a bad reputation when it comes to theft and crime overall. I grew up with my things being stolen if I left them unattended for even a few minutes. Bikes and skateboards stolen from my porch; little toys and accessories stolen from my backpack and desk at school. So I lock up everything that will be out of my hand as soon as I get to the gym. Even if it’s replaceable or not valuable, I just hate having stuff stolen from me.

I always either lock my stuff up or keep it with me. I don’t trust people, things are stolen from gym lockers/cars ALL the time. I also personally find it very annoying when people put stuff in lockers without locks, because I can’t tell which ones are availabe. It sucks opening up 15 lockers and finding all of them have stuff in there before finding an empty one. The locks signal it is taken.

I always lock my stuff. Why take the risk?

I leave my assigned locker unlocked at the gym in my work building. It’s all other employees, and there’s controlled access and cameras. They’ve never had a problem with anyone’s things going missing.

That being said, once I’m engaged and don’t want to leave my ring just sitting in a bag or in an unlocked locker, I’ll probably start locking it. It really depends on how much you value what you have in there and what you feel the likelihood of it being taken is.

I don’t. But I have been that person that had petty stuff like toothpaste, lotion, and loofahs stolen. It is not only weird but kinda gross to think people will steal such things. So it isn’t a huge loss.. just annoying.

It depends on what town I’m in…I go to the Y and there is about 5/6 locations that my membership can be used at. If it’s the nicer uppety towns, then yeah, I’ll leave my stuff unlocked but I do bring my phone with me and I don’t bring in my wallet. There’s no need. My car keys are in the locker though, and if they wanna steal my car, then by all means, please do so I can get another one LOL!

I lock my stuff up because I don’t like carrying valuables (phone, wallet) with me (and I’m usually coming from work so I have that stuff with me).  However, it really isn’t necessary where I go and many people where I go do not.  It’s a rather small facility where lots of people know each other and isn’t just generally open for walk-ins (like a Planet Fitness or whatever) and there is usually someone up front.  I just tend to be a little paranoid (sometimes the person up front has to leave to attend to another task) and it also helps me remember which locker I put my stuff in.

I always lock my stuff up. I mean yeah sure it’s perfectly fine unlocked…until it isn’t.

I’ve heard way too many stories of items being taken.

Plus I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be driving home in my wet swimsuit when it’s like…zero degrees out. lol

I think it also depends on the gym. I left a jacket in a locker at an old gym in error. It was gone within a few hours.

Then at my new gym my friend stupidly lost her engagement ring. I’m sure the gym staff had it  after my friend dropped it. I threatened to call the cops and then that afternoon the ring mysteriously showed up. Terrible.

I always lock everything up. Even though I don’t have anything of value it’s always better safe than sorry

People do this at my gym. I usually lock my stuff up or leave it in the car.

I always lock my stuff up, and I also don’t bring things of value into the gym (except my phone, which I keep with me at all times). I once got $200 stolen from my locker in a gym (which I had locked, they cut the lock). This was at a good gym, in a nice area. So I don’t trust anyone or any gym. Sure, my clothes, gym bag, and shoes aren’t expensive, but I also don’t want them stolen so I figure at least a lock will make it less likely.

I walk to the gym so I just have my phone and house key on me and I keep that with me while working out.

My gym has locks on the lockers, they lock with your wristband that comes with membership so easy to lock it. I don’t like carrying my keys with me. I take my phone, water and earphones and nothing else
